I was thinking about [name]Alexandra[/name] and [name]Alexandria[/name] and I realised I like [name]Alexandria[/name] more. The -ia- ending is prettier in my ears.
However, I like [name]Alessandra[/name] more than both. Which lead me to considering Alessandria, but is it too much?
The double ss makes [name]Alessandra[/name] more elaborate than [name]Alexandra[/name] in my eyes, and the -ia in [name]Alexandria[/name] makes it more elaborate than [name]Alexandra[/name] as well.
Perhaps the both together is just too much? I’m not sure. It’d also likely be mistaken for [name]Alexandria[/name] at times as well, and it’s 5 syllables which is a lot imo. And I think [name]Alessandra[/name] may be more classy feeling than Alessandria which is more showy.
But it’s so pretty sounding!
I actually like it. I love the name [name]Alessandra[/name] because it is so feminine and elegant sounding. The only thing I don’t like about it is that people might shorten it to [name]Sandra[/name]. There is nothing wrong with [name]Sandra[/name], I actually like it, but it is a little dated for a nickname. By adding the ia at the end it kind of gets rids of the [name]Sandra[/name] ending.
I strongly dislike it. [name]Alexandria[/name] is nice and [name]Alessandra[/name] is beautiful, but Alessandria is just too much. Plus, it’s not the right variant- Italian has [name]Alessandra[/name], [name]Alessia[/name], and [name]Alessa[/name], not Alessandria. It seems very modern invented to me, so I really don’t care for it.
I actually prefer [name]Alessandra[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are lovely, but I think 4 syllables is enough for me. I’ve really grown to adore [name]Alessandra[/name] and it’s on my short list now for another little girl. Either way, they’re lovely, wonderful names, but that’s my 2 cents.
Thank you for all of your input! I’ve decided that Alessandria’s just too much, and like a PP mentioned it’s apparently not even really a name. [name]Alessandra[/name] is classier, and will do just fine.
