Aletta?

It looks like there are a few old posts for [name_f]Aletta[/name_f], but not a ton of feedback on it. Thoughts?

You’ve probably seen my many [name_f]Etta[/name_f] posts in the last (sorry ). I still like [name_f]Etta[/name_f] and it’s high on our girls’ list, but there are a few other names that might have a bit more pizazz for me now. But then I saw the name [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] today and it renewed my interest a bit.

[name_f]My[/name_f] maternal grandmother was named Rhetta- pronounced “ree-tuh”, but I thought [name_f]Etta[/name_f] “eh-tuh” could still count as a nod to her due to the spelling. When I read the name [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] it caught my eye because my maternal grandfather (Rhetta’s husband) is named [name_m]Al[/name_m]. So, [name_m]Al[/name_m] + Rhetta = [name_f]Aletta[/name_f]?

I like that both [name_f]Etta[/name_f] or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] could be potential nicknames, and it would be cool to include two grandparents in one name (we don’t think honor names are a requirement, just a bonus). But I’m not sure if it sounds too made up? [name_m]Or[/name_m] what type of impression it gives off?
Thoughts?

Here are a few combos I’ve kicked around:

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] (Anne was MIL’s middle name, [name_f]Marie[/name_f] was my middle name. We both dropped our middles and took our maiden names as new middles when we got married, so that would be four honor names in one combo :joy:)

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] “Etta [name_f]Lou[/name_f], [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Lou[/name_f], or [name_f]Letta[/name_f] Lou”
[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]

I’ve encountered an Eletta and an Elette, so I can see [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] working too. It’s got a slightly vintage, but international vibe to it, works as an honour while still being her own name, and gives you nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f] and [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]!

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] and [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] are lovely! Flow wise [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] works well, but it’s a bit too honour-heavy for my tastes. I think [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] could be a subtle honour too (Am → [name_f]Anne[/name_f], M-ie → Marie) but maybe that’s a bit of a stretch.

This is my niece’s name! I think it works great as an honour name for [name_m]Al[/name_m] and Rhetta.

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is a spunky combo!

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] is quite pretty, and I love how it would be a two-in-one honour name!

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] sounds great.

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] has an gentle appeal, but feels quite fresh (especially with the nicknames [name_f]Etta[/name_f] and Lettie). LOVE it as a smoosh of [name_m]Al[/name_m] and Rhetta as well, how perfect!

For combos, I might avoid a four name honor smoosh, if only to give her some of her own name! I quite like [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] from your choices. (Etta [name_f]Lou[/name_f] and [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] [name_f]Lou[/name_f] are adorable!) [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] share a few too many of the same sounds to have a pleasing flow, and [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] has back-to-back "a"s that run into each other for me.

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] is pretty, and I think it would work well with the rise of [name_f]Althea[/name_f] or [name_f]Alethea[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] ‘Lettie Lou’ (sounds like something straight out of a children’s storybook!) and [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f].

I like it! It’d be a great honor name too. [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is great.

I really love it! I’ve never heard [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] and actually added it to my list after reading this because I just love the sound of it so much  I especially love that it is such a great honor name for you. It’s beautiful! [name_f]Etta[/name_f] or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] would work great for nickname options. It doesn’t give off made up name to me. I like [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] the best just because it gives you even more fun nickname options!

I like [name_f]Aletta[/name_f]. Definitely vintage but different. The fact that it’s a natural sounding blend of your maternal grandparents’ names is what pushes it over for me. Alternatively, I also would say just Rhetta but pronounced “Rett-uh” instead of “Ree-tuh” would be cool. Neither sounds made up at all, just vintage/ getting a revival. I’m biased towards A names and like the A.A. initials so I like [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] and [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] specifically helps make it sound a bit more modern and still keeps it unique from all of the Amelias.

[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] is a fun name, it reminds of of [name_f]Adeliza[/name_f] and have a very regal feel, [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] give off warrior princess energy :muscle::crown: I like it!

I like [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] a lot! Especially for you, given that it could honor both grandparents. [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] feels like a dainty songbird to me, maybe because of [name_f]Alouette[/name_f]? It’s light and graceful and feels like a ballerina or a beautiful little songbird.

It’s a form of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] (wondering if it’s especially related to the [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] [name_f]Aleida[/name_f] since it has a very similar structure… otherwise I’m not sure I would’ve recognized it was related to Adelaide!), so definitely legitimate. I know a lot of [name_m]South[/name_m] American and inner-city kids with really wild names, so I definitely would not have doubted the legitimacy of [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] lol. And [name_f]Etta[/name_f] and [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] are so sweet! I especially like [name_f]Lettie[/name_f].

I don’t love the alliteration with [name_f]Aletta[/name_f], but I do sort of like the idea of [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]? [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites of your combos is [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] (Lettie [name_f]Lou[/name_f] is adorable!). I would probably avoid [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f], personally - I once considered [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but rejected it because [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] honored my two grandmas, the initials LB honored my grandpa, and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] honored my dad and brother… so much honoring but no individuality! I like having at least one name that is the kiddo’s own. But if that doesn’t bother you, [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] sounds really lovely and dainty.

Good luck!
