Update: Alys is out after some thought. I’m sticking the Alice spelling.
Going through my book of names I’ve found a name that I had originally taken off my list - [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
I don’t remember why I originally took it off my list, but I’m starting to like it again. It feels like a classic name that will age very well. I find it lovely and I think it fits in well with my present favorites.
What are your thoughts on Alice?
Does it fit with any of the combos below as a first/second middle?
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Katarina[/name_f]
Or does it fit better with anything else on my list as a first or middle?
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariana[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
I love the name [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! I personally would pronounce [name_f]Alys[/name_f] as uh-LEES, but I don’t know if anyone else would. For siblings, I like the combinations of:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I’m kinda bias though. Everyone assumes this is how I spell my name so I think [name_f]Alys[/name_f] might have some problems the first time unless it was a middle name. I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] is really cute.
I wouldn’t use the spelling [name_f]Alys[/name_f] as a first name. Only a middle. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would be for a first or middle name.
@faithnamer
Sorry if I wasn’t clear. With my questions I meant to ask if the names I listed go good as a first or middle name to [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

Thanks for your insight! It great to hear from someone who has the name.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but am not a fan of [name_f]Alys[/name_f]. I think it looks too trendy with the y and the s. I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] are great together, but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]/[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] are even better!
I like it too, but I’m thinking of using [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as a first or second middle. For example: [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
All of my present combinations have a family name except for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m].
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is my step-grandmothers middle. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is longer form of grandmothers name.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] - [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] is my maternal grandmothers middle and R.G are her initals
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] - [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is my great grandmothers first name.
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] - [name_u]James[/name_u] is my fathers middle. [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is a variant of my step grandmothers name.
I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. It is classic, but still feels a little quirky to me, a la [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland. It isn’t on my list because I feel like it’s too close to my own name, but I love it.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] (sometimes I’m really into alliteration)
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] (I like this more than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Katarina[/name_f])
And I’m swooning over the idea of five sisters named [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I think it fits quite nicely.
I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] too. I usually don’t like alliteration, but I find this combination charming.
Thank you! Sadly I won’t be using them all as first names. I probably will have two biological child at most because I plan to adopt and foster. Most likely older children so I won’t be changing first names.
