Alice vs Amelia

Which of these names do you prefer and why?
Also not for a baby today, which [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] would be way too popular for, but for an adult/teenager.
Thank you!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f], it’s more classic!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] :strawberry:

Her literary ties are really special, I think, and she feels very fresh and bonny. I’ve known several teenage girls called [name_f]Alice[/name_f], and it suits all types!

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is my pick, lovely classic.

These are both very pretty, classic names! I do prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f], which I find more elegant and timeless (and I’m probably going to name a future daughter Alice) but both are pretty.

I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but both are pretty feminine classics. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland and Alice’s meaning tips the scales in its favor to me.

I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels glassy and dainty to me, whereas [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is more friendly and warm. I also prefer the nickname options [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] provides.

I agree!

alice!

Definitely [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I can’t get into [name_f]Alice[/name_f] at all.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f], most definitely.

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] has always been popular in my life time and for some reason, the name of multiple friends I’ve had in the past so it feels both unusable personally, but also without any shine. It’s also one of those that sounds a tad sickly to me??? This is definitely a me thing though because no one else has that problem

Anyway, back to the lovely [name_f]Alice[/name_f], which is sleek, sweet, strong and literary, light and versatile

That’s very interesting! I’ve only known one person called [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] ever- it’s not that popular in my age group. Thank you for your answer.
I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] but I’m not sure, something feels a little lacking? For lack of another word, but I don’t know

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I like Amelia’s Polish and Italian pronunciation, a-MEHL-ya, not so much [name_f]English[/name_f] ə-MEEL-ee-ə.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] – I know so many teenagers named [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels sweet and melodic and a little bit magical. I love her!

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is my favourite :white_heart:

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is warm, comforting and sweet. I love the nickname [name_f]Millie[/name_f] & [name_f]Mia[/name_f]. Whereas [name_f]Alice[/name_f] just isn’t my thing I’ve tried to get on board as I should love her but I have bad associations with the name and all I hear is a lice.

Ironically despite the comments above about [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] being more popular and it being in the top 5 (if not higher I can’t remember) in the UK, I’ve met an equal amount of Alice’s and Amelia’s in my life. So not taking popularity into account (as they both seem popular where I live) even though I love both names, I think I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] slightly (I’d only use it as a middle though or use [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] instead as they feel so girly, pink, poetic and balletic kind of like me) as opposed to [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (depends on whether you like frilly girly names or more classic names).

I definitely have the lice association with [name_f]Alice[/name_f] too, I don’t know why. It feels a lot colder than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], and definitely gives off a different vibe

I’ve only met 1 [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and 2 Alice’s, despite the alleged popularity of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]!

i much prefer alice!! it’s a family name for me, and i also just really don’t like amelia, i hate the MEEL sound it makes.
