I would love to know what everyone prefers? And what others should I be thinking of that I’m forgetting? Also, is it better to use a hyphen, or just make it two names. I want her to have a double name but am a bit lost as to how to go about it. Thank you so much!!
Alice-[name_u]Anne[/name_u] & [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] are my favourites as they are so vintage and I like the bright ‘[name_f]Alice[/name_f]’ combined with a more subdued name, like [name_u]Anne[/name_u] & [name_f]Ruth[/name_f].
I think that would be really lovely. I wouldn’t use [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_u]Anne[/name_u] personally, since it kind of looks like an odd spelling of [name_u]Allison[/name_u].
I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_u]Anne[/name_u], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Jane[/name_f], & [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Bea[/name_f]!
I also really like the past suggestions of [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Fern[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_u]Marie[/name_u], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], & [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_u]Clare[/name_u] (or [name_f]Claire[/name_f])!
As far as the hyphens go, I don’t mind them. I think it helps lessen confusion on whether that’s their first name and they have a separate middle name (or no middle name at all), or if it’s their first and middle name that they go by. I do know a [name_m]Steven[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m] (double barreled first; middle name’s [name_m]Albion[/name_m] ) and I think I wouldn’t like it as [name_m]Steven[/name_m]-[name_m]Cole[/name_m], so because of that, I’ll say that I prefer when there isn’t a hyphen between the two names.
Alice-[name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] are my favourites! What about [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]?
I like Alice-Jane and Alice-Ruth. I think Alice-Marie has good flow too so I would suggest it.
I prefer double names to be hyphenated because it makes clear that it’s a double name rather than a first name and middle name. E.g. if I saw the name Sarah Jane Reynolds in writing, I wouldn’t be sure whether to address her as Sarah or Sarah Jane.
Thanks to all for these terrific suggestions. What a great community! I love the ideas presented here. So many options! I really appreciate it. I love hyphenated names too. I have a cousin named [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-[name_f]Marine[/name_f] which I think is just the prettiest, and a friend named [name_u]Adrien[/name_u]-[name_f]Alice[/name_f] which I also adore!
I’ve met an [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_u]Anne[/name_u]! I thought it was sweet. I also met a [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Alice[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_u]Anne[/name_u] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] are my favorites. I think a hyphen is easiest.
