I saw this name on the make up a name post and I fell in love with it. I tried looking it up and found that Allira is the aboriginal word for daughter. Other sites said it is an Australian name meaning clear quartz. I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on the name or know anymore history on the Australian name.
I’m Aussie and can honestly say I’ve never heard of that name. However, I’m no historian either so who knows?
It’s very pretty, and feminine sounding and I certainly think it’s usable. In a world full of Maddisyn’s, Sopfia’s and [name_f]Ava[/name_f]'s, I think it would be a very refreshing change to hear a little girl with this name.
On Waltzing More than [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], says that it means clear crystal quartz. I’ve never met an Allira but I’ve seen a few variations in birth announcements (Alira and Aleera) I really like it.
I’m so happy to see positive reactions to the name. I think I like the Alira spelling best. I’m so surprised it isn’t used more. To me, it has the same feeling as [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] but a little more grounded. It sort of fits with a strong feminine style with a touch of princess.
I think it’s gorgeous! It sort of seems to smoosh [name_f]Adira[/name_f] (or [name_f]Alina[/name_f]?) and [name_f]Alette[/name_f]/[name_f]Aletta[/name_f] for me, and if it isn’t a name, it feels very namey! I would love to meet a little Alira! It sort of reminds me of Lira, which I’ve always loved the sound of, but was hesitant to use, because of the old Italian currency.
