Most of the Aliyahs I’ve met have been of Middle Eastern descent, or they’ve been white.

It’s a pretty, strong and musical name that feels like it crosses different cultures well.

It does make me think first of the singer who passed away in 2001, though her name was spelled [name_f]Aaliyah[/name_f]. I don’t know if that’s a bad thing. She was a very talented musician. It’s a beautiful name that I honestly don’t encounter often enough. I think it would work for your daughter.

I know it’s predominantly pronounced “A-lee-yah” but my friend named her daughter this name and pronounces it “Ahh-li-ya” and I kinda like the way she pronounces it better! She’s Muslim, born in [name_f]Egypt[/name_f] but lives in Australia. I would say it’s perfect for a [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] [name_m]Island[/name_m] little cutie.

I don’t think it’s too tied to one culture. I think it’s a beautiful name

I think it’s great for all cultures! I first heard it on a white girl

Aliyah is very popular in my area and most of the Aaliyah’s I know are of hispanic descent. So that combined with the other replies on here, to me, indicates that Aliyah is not really tied to one group of people.
