To me, twin names shouldn’t be matchy. I think their first names should be names you would give siblings who aren’t twins as well. I like a little connection in the middle, but absolutely no more than that. I like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] (or [name_m]Helios[/name_m] and [name_f]Selene[/name_f]; historical twins); and Rhaenys and Visenya (Targaryen; literate badass sisters). I also secretly love [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] together (which are the given names of [name_u]Cary[/name_u] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]), but the connection might be a little to extensive. Most of the twins I know do not have matchy names (with the notable and tragic exception of [name_u]Cory[/name_u] and [name_u]Cody[/name_u].) I used to work for the SSA and once had twin boy claimants with the names [name_m]Damian[/name_m] and Danian. That was ridiculous and their medical records kept getting mixed up.
I would not give twins matching names. Aside from being annoying and cutesy, it also definitely causes confusion when it comes to school and medical records.
