Due date: this [name_m]Saturday[/name_m]!
Last name: Italian
[name_u]Baby[/name_u] sex: surprise!
If the baby is a girl, we like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] or [name_f]Florence[/name_f] (see another post in the girls forums) but it’s a boy we haven’t really gotten far. It’s hard because we like unique vintage nerdy names, but our last name feels so Italian that it feels hard to match with.
husband and I could both live with:
[name_m]Linus[/name_m] (seems to work well with last name and easy to spell, familiar)
[name_m]Quentin[/name_m] (if we think of an E middle name, the initials could be QED)
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m] (works with last name, but I haven’t convinced myself to love it)
[name_m]Basil[/name_m] (I like nickname [name_m]Baz[/name_m], I think, but I’m not too sure about it …)
[name_m]Colin[/name_m] (simple, doesn’t stand out)
[name_m]Clive[/name_m] (I love this name - it seems vivacious yet short, spell-able, I love CS [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], … but I am not sure it can go with our last name. The more I think about it, the more it seems like it could go? Maybe with a middle name that seems vigilant or protective the meaning could be wise? like a lookout with a high view? [name_m]Clive[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]? [name_m]Clive[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]? )
[name_m]David[/name_m] (I like this name, husband’s favorite uncle’s name - but it feels like we would be skipping over nearer relations as a namesake).
I like [name_m]Linus[/name_m] best with “Sylvya” and “[name_m]Myles[/name_m].” I think they’re all vintage/quirky and I like them all independently and as a sibset. I’ve had a soft spot for [name_m]Linus[/name_m] since watching [name_m]Humphrey[/name_m] [name_m]Bogart[/name_m] in [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] when I was a teenager. [name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] would be lovely
This echoed my sentiments about [name_m]Linus[/name_m] perfectly! I, too, discovered a love for it watching the older [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] Hepburn/[name_m]Humphrey[/name_m] [name_m]Bogart[/name_m] versions of [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]. (the newer one isn’t bad but it’s just not the classic) and it does have this old timey vintage feel to it.
I love the way it sounds next to Sylvya and [name_m]Myles[/name_m] (by the way I really their names, really relieved to see the Y’s weren’t really there lol) and the only thing different I would suggest is a different middle name. I love the combination of [name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_m]Raphael[/name_m]!
Thank you for all the [name_m]Linus[/name_m]-love! I’ve just got to convince myself. I do think it “fits” but I just am not as excited about a [name_m]Linus[/name_m] as I am about a [name_m]Clive[/name_m].
And thank you for the suggestion of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]! Another one I wish I could love, but growing up “[name_m]Horace[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]” were the silly victim names …
I love [name_m]Linus[/name_m] and [name_m]Basil[/name_m]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are classic and very handsome. I think you should only go with a name you absolutely love; never settle for a sub-par name. In that case, I don’t think [name_m]David[/name_m] or [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] would be best. [name_m]Clive[/name_m] is adorable, and if you both love it, I say go for it. Meeting a baby [name_m]Clive[/name_m] would be very refreshing!
At first glance I rolled my eyes thinking that you’d actually replaced all the "i"s in your children’s names with "y"s. I was relieved to realize that you were just doing that to keep them from being searchable
I also like [name_m]Linus[/name_m] and [name_m]Basil[/name_m] best from your list. One thing to keep in mind - are you from a place where most people would pronounce [name_m]Basil[/name_m] correctly? Where I’m from in the southern US most people mispronounce it [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-zil, which would drive me crazy!
I’m not as keen on [name_m]Clive[/name_m], but I do think it fits nicely with your other children’s names, and if you like it you shouldn’t be afraid to use it!
I like [name_m]Clive[/name_m] personally, it doesn’t go with my kids names or I’d consider it an option for my son, if you love it you should go for it! [name_m]Linus[/name_m] would be my second pick.
I was about to chime in in strong support of [name_m]Clive[/name_m] - what a handsome name! And [name_m]Clive[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]? Wonderful!
