So my boyfriend and I both REALLY like the name [name]Charlotte[/name], but we both dislike the nicknames [name]Char[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name], and he also dislikes [name]Carly[/name]. What are some other nicknames for [name]Charlotte[/name]? [name]Callie[/name]? [name]Calla[/name]? I know someone on another thread was debating using [name]Cat[/name], which is cute but hard to get to.
My alternate plan to pitch [name]Charlotte[/name] to him is to pair with an A or E middle name, because then her initials would spell [name]CAE[/name] or CEE, and we could nickname her “[name]Cae[/name]” or “Cece” or “Ceel”.
I love this name also and I have been searching for a good nickname because I am a huge nickname person on babies and loved ones. I thought [name]Arly[/name] was really cute without being too far fetched. But I would mostly call her the ful name.
Same problem for us. This is our third and its a family name that I adore but just can’t seem to get used to.
I am thinking [name]Anne[/name] for a MN and our last name starts with T, so [name]CAT[/name] as a NN works. My grandma went by [name]Chickie[/name] and I am trying to push for [name]Coco[/name] (just because).
I’ve got 14 weeks left to figure out this 3rd girl…
I also like [name]Charlie[/name] for [name]Charlotte[/name], but he made a face (he is tough to please sometimes). [name]Coco[/name] is a cute idea too! The more and more I think about it, I’m tending towards doing [name]Charlotte[/name] A-name and just using [name]Cae[/name] as a nickname. Or, you know, just calling her [name]Charlotte[/name].
I feel like if I called “[name]Charlotte[/name]” [name]Charlie[/name], then I’d pronounce it [name]Shar[/name]-lee. Almost likely [name]Shirley[/name] but not.
[name]Just[/name] remembered this one - One of the characters on the show “Pushing Daisies” was named [name]Charlotte[/name] but went by [name]Chuck[/name]. It’s out there but it’s kind of cool too.
I really like the nickname [name]Chuck[/name] for [name]Charlotte[/name]. It reminds me of [name]Chuck[/name] from “Pushing Daisies”. I also like [name]Cat[/name] but it is a little difficult to get to.
I was considering [name]Charlotte[/name] for my daughter and was going to give her a family middle name that started with C to then call her CC or “cece”. I’ve also heard the nicknames “chat” or “cha cha” although I don’t like either of those very much. I like your ideas of [name]Carly[/name] or [name]Callie[/name]. In my experience…you will get to choose the nickname and won’t really have to explain it as long as your child responds to it and identifies it as their name.
Still…as many other berries pointed out to me…part of [name]Charlotte[/name]'s appeal is its simple elegance and perhaps it actually doesn’t need a nickname to preserve that inherent simplicity. Best of luck!!
I am thinking about this name as a way to honor my mom. When I searched her name on here they said it was a variation of [name]Charlotte[/name].
Any who, I remember my dad side of the family, some of them called her “[name]Arlie[/name]/[name]Arly[/name],” I am thinking about this as a possible nickname. Yet, I would have to get her opinion, since they are divorced and yadda-yadda. I also like the nn [name]Arlo[/name].
My name’s [name]Charlotte[/name], but I’ve been going by [name]Charlie[/name] since I can remember. I don’t particularly like it, but it’s too late for me to change it.
My father and sister call me [name]Chuck[/name], [name]Chucky[/name], and Chuckles, though.
You said you dislike [name]Lottie[/name], well, what about [name]Lotta[/name]? Or simply [name]Lotte[/name]?
[name]Arnie[/name]… [name]Charlie[/name]…
I met a [name]Charlotte[/name] who went by [name]Cate[/name] and Cheetie and Cheetah but I don’t really see the connection.
We named our daughter [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. [name_u]Early[/name_u] on I gave her the nickname Cha Cha, and it has really stuck. She is seven now, and it fits her upbeat personality like a glove. I frequently get comments from other parents in her softball and volleyball leagues about what an adorable nickname it is.
i see the original post was in 2012 ,but i want to throw this out there since my baby’s name is [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. We call her [name_f]Lolly[/name_f]! Its such a joyful nickname, we get so many compliments on it. ”
