I don’t know why your husband has such a negative reaction to the spelling [name]Eleanor[/name]. Is it common for people to pick apart names and find words in their own language? Many names/words have ā€œanoā€ in them (Giuliano, Luciano, Mariano, Silvano, Stefano, Vanora, Americano, Italiano, Milano etc… and I’ve never heard anyone having a problem with them). I like [name]Eleanor[/name] the best but [name]Elinor[/name] is ok too.

[name]Elinor[/name] is my favorite

[name]Elinore[/name] -that last ā€˜e’ sort of bothers me a bit, partly because it’s a silent letter…if someone were writing her name they might not put that final e, and while it’s not too big a deal, it could get a bit tiresome for her…

Eleonor -sounds like a donkey bray to me…i see e-leon-or, draw out the r sound…and yeah…no offense intended…just couldn’t help but think that.

[name]Eleonore[/name]- same as [name]Elinore[/name]

[name]Elenor[/name] -hmm…i guess this would be my second choice

[name]Elenore[/name]- same as the other ā€˜e’ two…

I love the look of [name]Eleanor[/name] so it’s hard for me to choose but I understand your husband’s concerns. [name]Elinor[/name] is the only one that looks like an established spelling to me, the others do read as trendy to me. I think [name]Elinor[/name] and [name]Josef[/name] look lovely together

100% [name]Elinor[/name].

I [name]LOVE[/name] the spelling of [name]Elinor[/name]! My best friend named her baby girl [name]Elinor[/name] last year and I just swoon every time I see it.

I like [name]Elinor[/name] the best (c’mon, it’s [name]Elinor[/name] Dashwood!), with [name]Elenor[/name] as a second choice. I’m not sure why it appeals, maybe for the lithe, streamlined, unexpected sort of feel of [name]Lenore[/name]/[name]Lenora[/name]. [name]Elenore[/name] is my third choice, but it really doesn’t compare to the others to me.

Yes!

I also like [name]Elanor[/name], an alternate spelling from ā€œThe [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings,ā€ but that doesn’t solve your husband’s problem. Best wishes!

I adore [name]Elinor[/name], I love how it looks and the sounds if you partition the name slightly [name]El[/name]-in-or, so much richer than [name]El[/name]-un-uh.
The [name]Eleanor[/name] spelling has grown on me recently, but still prefer it a la [name]Jan[/name] [name]Austen[/name]!
I agree that [name]Elinor[/name] and [name]Josef[/name] make a beautiful combination (I’ve not been a fan of [name]Joseph[/name], but the ā€˜f’ changes the feel quite a bit).
All the best

if i had to choose out of the suggestions you have liste i would choose [name]Elinor[/name]. this is the orginal spelling of the Nordic version of the name and where the name originates from.

another version is [name]Elena[/name] or [name]Ellena[/name] you dont get the diffinite oor sound at the end of the name more an uh sound (el-len-uh) so it sounds very very similar.

I really dislike the name [name]Eleanor[/name] (especially the spelling) but the spelling [name]Elinor[/name] makes it a little better for me.

If you choose to go with an alternate spelling, you should pick the simplest variation: [name]Elinor[/name]. I think it is a very pretty name!

I prefer [name]Eleanor[/name] the best I think but [name]Elinor[/name] for sure would be my second pick.

I’m so glad you posted this! I like the name [name]Eleanor[/name] a lot, and always thought I would hate any other spelling, but now that I’m looking at them all side-by-side I can see that, yes, [name]Elinor[/name] is super cool.

[name]Elinor[/name]! I love that both [name]Elinor[/name] and [name]Josef[/name] are common names in the US but both are legit spellings in foreign countries.

My grandmother was named [name_f]Ellenor[/name_f] born 1900 died 1954 and my granddaughter was named after her, also spelt [name_f]Ellenor[/name_f].
We all carry the BRCA one cancer gene mutation, we believe this could be related to Jewish origion. We [name_f]Wonder[/name_f] if this was the reason why my maternal grandmother spelt her name differently.
