I’m thinking of the name [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] for our baby girl but I’m a little put off by the fact that the words sad and die are in the name although not simultaneously. It probably won’t be a deal breaker and I’m usually not a fan of using different spellings but I’m wondering if any of these other spelling would work? Or do they look contrived too made up?

Saede
[name_f]Saydee[/name_f]
Sadeigh
I only like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], sorry.
I prefer the original spelling. I’m also a fan of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] which sounds similar.
Only a fan of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. I really don’t think anyone would ever associate those separate words that you’ve identified - I certainly wouldn’t, and even after you point this out, it will probably never cross my mind again. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a beautiful name, and the spelling is great. The other spellings are made-up, and therefore look contrived to me. Also some of them would be confusing to know how to pronounce! Keep it simple and stick with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]!
Agree with pp. [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] could be a possibility though?
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is fine as is.
I agree with this. The other spellings look like a child’s misspellings. Sorry.
I agree. The other spellings do nothing good for the name. I was going to suggest [name_f]Zadie[/name_f], and I’m glad @morning_glory beat me to it. It’s an actual derivation that doesn’t look made up, but it eliminates the “sad” concern you have.
I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is just fine. If you change the spelling people will still assume it is just [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], but she will constantly be correcting people to Saydeigh or whatever.
I don’t notice the “sad” “die”. To me it is said different so it doesn’t matter.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a lot less hassle though than any other spelling option.
Please just use [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] or [name_f]Zadie[/name_f], all the others look like ugly misspellings to me
Alternative spellings don’t typically bother me, but I don’t think any of the other options make a lot of sense to me, they just look overly complicated.
If you want to use an alternative spelling, I’d go with [name_f]Saydee[/name_f], although I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] as it is the best.
Although this name isn’t my style (to me, a little too cutesy, not sure it wears well for a grown woman), I didn’t think of the “sad” or “die” thing at all when I saw/say it.
I didn’t like the usual spelling for [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] but loved the name and meaning. This name was for my 4th child and with my other daughter being an unusual name I wanted an unusual spelling.
She’s called [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] but spelling it [name_f]SADEE[/name_f]
Everyone loves it
I think your best alternate is [name_f]Saydee[/name_f] or [name_f]Saidey[/name_f]. Once you depart from the original spelling, the pronunciation should be clear from the spelling, I think. I think the other spellings muddy the waters a bit. Personally, I like the original spelling, and I think once you’re using the name consistently on your baby, the ‘sad’ and ‘die’ visual will fade, especially since the pronunciation of the name is so different from those two words.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] only ever looks gorgeous to me, have never ever thought about the fact that those two words were in it and I don’t think anyone else would. Other spellings look made up and rather silly imo. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is gorgeous.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is beatuiful but I would also suggest SaiDee, hope this helps!
[name_f]Saidey[/name_f], saydee, saidee
