[name_f]My[/name_f] husband really likes the name [name_f]Samantha[/name_f]. He says he likes the way it sounds, and it’s just “such a solid girl name.” I think it’s all right, but I wouldn’t name a daughter that myself. It reminds me of the American [name_f]Girl[/name_f] doll and that one scene in Frozen II (if you spend enough time with kids, you know what I mean). Now, granted, there are many great associations (High Society, Bewitched). So though I may end up using it as a middle or compromise, just because my husband so rarely (read: never) singles a name out as being nice, I’d love to think of some alternatives that either have a similar vibe or a similar sound.
Names I love for reference: [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f], [name_f]Blair[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]. Basically, I love a good vintage, feminine name, but if there’s something that makes it more exciting or interesting or unique than the average (at least in my mind), I like it even more!
I knew a girl named Samuelle when I was growing up. I remember her telling me that her mom wanted something different for the nickname Sam / Sammy / Sami while still being a feminine name
Not sure if this is your style at all, but if your husband is really pushing for Samantha this might be a good option for you guys! And if you love Elle or Ellie for short this is also great!
Since [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] has the emphasis on the second syllable, I second all those options by the pps, like
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Callista[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f] (I’m pronouncing it an-THEE-ah)
[name_f]Samara[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Marianna[/name_f] (third syllable emphasis)
Bonus points for an A sound in the emphasized syllable.
Could you like
Elinora or [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivory[/name_f] (sounds like a smush of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Emery[/name_f], but is also used as a name)?
I’ve been loving [name_f]Maranatha[/name_f] lately, she feels a lot like [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] to me but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Here’s a few others that feel like [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] to me:
I love [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], too. But I also love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f], & [name_f]Blair[/name_f] from your list. I think there’s some overlap in style between [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] and the ones you like! Here are some suggestions:
