Alternatives to Elizabeth

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any suggestions for an alternative to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]? I love the full name but dislike Liz/Lizzie as a nn, which is the default where I am from. I couldn’t just use an alternative nn as I am not a nn person and would always say [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Thanks in advance.

There are lots of variations of Elizabeth you could choose, although many of them are not so classic in style.

I would recommend:

Elspeth
Elsbeth
Elise
Eliza
Lilibet

Longer names that are classic in style:

Victoria
Catherine
Margaret
Adelaide
Georgina
Josephine
Caroline
Genevieve
Annabelle

I like the softer version, [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is hard if you’re not a nicknamey person, but its possible to tell people she’s ‘just Elizabeth’ and it can stick. Maybe not with absolutely everyone, but at least the important ones will call her [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] if you bring it up enough.

I do, too. But I doubt people would recognise the distinction.

I do like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], including the nn [name_f]Josie[/name_f], so that would be worth considering. Thanks.

I’ve known a couple of Elizabeths who were only known as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I think you could pull it off. But here are some others that come to mind:
