Alternatives to Taylor (for a girl)

Hello Ladies!

I have posted some previous threads, and now I’m back with another question! lol (I’m only 15 weeks - what am I going to be like when I actually find out the sex of my bundle of joy?! - you all are going to be so sick of me!) Hopefully this one doesn’t get lengthy - my apologies if it does (=

Let me start by saying that our last name is Helmick & we have two children already:

[name]Riley[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - (before I named [name]Riley[/name] I checked the SSA 100 most popular names to make sure it wasn’t very common - the year before she was born, the name [name]Riley[/name], for a girl, sat at #72 I’m slightly annoyed with how popular it’s become for girls lol)

[name]Lucas[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name] - I go back & forth on his name, as much as I love it, I wonder if maybe I made a mistake with [name]Sawyer[/name] (as it has become unisex)

I feel that I should note that I like names that are a little more uncommon from most, however, my husband doesn’t feel the same. He likes names that are a little bit more trendier so, whenever he mentions a name that I can get on board with I am OVERJOYED! We both like surnames (but have no good ones in our families) and unisex names for girls.

He has mentioned that he likes the name [name]McKenzie[/name] as a MN for a girl. Although popular, it has been a favorite name of mine since childhood. (back when it was cool to name twins matching names like [name]Brenda[/name] & [name]Brendon[/name], I wanted twin girls [name]McKayla[/name] & [name]McKenzie[/name]) He also like the name [name]Taylor[/name] (I like it, but not for my own daughter - I feel she would be one of three in her class room) He also has mentioned he likes [name]Piper[/name], this is a name that for some reason I keep coming back to, but I’m unsure about it.

So finally, for my question, can you ladies help me out?

[name]Taylor[/name] [name]McKenzie[/name] Helmick - do you like it? Any variation suggestions?
[name]Piper[/name] [name]McKenzie[/name] Helmick -

I also like [name]Blakely[/name] as a MN but can’t find a first name to compliment it. Sorry for the length of this post, but any input is appreciated!

More ideas (not all work with [name]Mackenzie[/name])

[name]Arden[/name] [name]Blakely[/name]/[name]Mackenzie[/name]
[name]Auden[/name] B/M
[name]Baylor[/name] (although she’ll probably be confused for [name]Taylor[/name])
[name]Bronwen[/name]/[name]Bronwyn[/name] (girl’s name, Irish)
[name]Camden[/name] B/M
[name]Linden[/name] B/M
[name]Quinn[/name] B/M
[name]Rowan[/name] B/M
[name]Sailor[/name] (instead of [name]Taylor[/name])
[name]Tamsin[/name] B/M

I’d definitely go with [name]Piper[/name] [name]Mackenzie[/name] over [name]Taylor[/name]… If you’ll be using a unisex name in front, I’d personally stick with a feminine middle name.

Good luck!

[name]Piper[/name] over [name]Taylor[/name] for me too.

What about [name]Peyton[/name]?

I love [name]Rowan[/name] for a girl, but hubby and I have compromised on for a boy.

[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name] are great names! I had no idea [name]Sawyer[/name] had become feminine. It makes me think of the character in ‘Lost’ which is very cute.

For girls I wouldn’t choose [name]Taylor[/name] as to me it’s a very 1990’s names. I haven’t heard of any baby [name]Taylor[/name]'s in ages. I think it sounds quite dated now, a little like [name]Ashley[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name].

[name]Piper[/name] is cute.

For girls how about: [name]Harper[/name], [name]Eden[/name], [name]Brodie[/name], [name]Addison[/name], [name]Jasper[/name]/Jaspa, [name]Darcie[/name]/[name]Darcey[/name], [name]Sydney[/name] or [name]Spencer[/name].

For boys: [name]Caden[/name], [name]Nolan[/name], [name]Hudson[/name], [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Byron[/name], [name]Truman[/name] or [name]McCoy[/name]

[name]How[/name] about Kaylor [name]Makenzie[/name]? I heard a girl named Kaylor the other day, and she was adorable.

[name]How[/name] about Kaylor [name]Makenzie[/name]? I heard a girl named Kaylor the other day, and she was adorable.

Some surnames I like for girls:

And then there’s my own name, which is rare for a girl: [name]Wesley[/name]. It took a lot to live up to it on the playground, lol. But now I like it.

I agree with the earlier advice about pairing a strong surname with a more feminine name.

You can also go the other way - and use a feminine first name with a very masculine middle name, such as:
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
[name]Anne[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]
[name]Jessica[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Hugh[/name]

Good luck!

first name i thought of when i read the title was tatum. and i love tatum mckenzie!! so cute!

I agree that [name]Taylor[/name] is very 80s and was overused - mostly for boys. It does not age well for an adult I think…

Other slightly-unisex names for a girl:
[name]Frankie[/name] ([name]Francesca[/name])
[name]Andrea[/name] ([name]Andy[/name])

[name]Taylor[/name] was going to be the name for our baby if it turned out to be a girl (10yrs ago!) Instead we named our son [name]Jayden[/name] and look how popular THAT ended up too!

I would run through the alphabet rhyming with ‘[name]Taylor[/name]’ if you want to get creative, or another few favorites of mine for a little girl are;

[name]Sailor[/name]/[name]Saylor[/name] (sp?)

Good [name]Luck[/name]!

I think [name]Skyler[/name] is a great alternative for [name]Taylor[/name], and I like someone’s earlier suggestion of [name]Peyton[/name]. I also like your other option of [name]Piper[/name]!

WOW! You ladies sure gave me a lot to chew on! I do like all of the [name]Peyton[/name] suggestions - it kind of goes with my newest naming dilemma - ah yes, the ever changing pregnant mind!

[name]Peyton[/name] is (or at least was) a main characters name on my favorite TV show where I (sort of) got the name [name]Lucas[/name] from ([name]Lucas[/name] was another main character on the show, [name]Peyton[/name]'s husband actually) …

However - ya know what? lol I will just copy & paste what I have on another board with my newest favorite baby name/naming issue! I hope you all read & give me as much helpful advice as you did on this thread!
Thank you ladies! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

[name]How[/name] about Taeah? (pronounced [name]Tay[/name]-uh) I think it’s unique without being out there, sounds similar to [name]Taylor[/name] while being a bit more feminine, and complements your other kids’ names.

I think Kaylor [name]McKenzie[/name] is cute like millikate suggested.
