Alternatives to "Winnie"

Hello all! My grandmothers name was [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and I would love to name my baby girl something that I can nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. Any thoughts??

[name_f]Arwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Winona[/name_f]

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] would be my pick!

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Winona[/name_f] and [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] are my favorites of those already mentioned.

Other options (trying not to repeat any that have already been mentioned) :
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowen[/name_u]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Wendy[/name_f]
[name_f]Olwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Edwina[/name_f]
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]

[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is my favourite [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] name. (By the way, absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]!) [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] could get you there (although probably [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] is the more obvious nickname).

Other suggestion:
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f]
Winnipeg

Also think [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is super cute on its own!

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] would be my choice. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is the most straight forward.

Sorry for any repeats!

My fave is Elowyn!

[name_f]Anwyn[/name_f]
Brownwyn
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] ( ala [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] cooper on the wonder years!)
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]
or even just [name_u]Wyn[/name_u]

[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is just gorgeous! I think any Welsh/Cornish or Celtic name ending in -wen or -[name_u]Wyn[/name_u] would be good for the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. So as others have said - [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f], [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] would work. ([name_m]Worth[/name_m] noting that traditionally the feminine versions of these names end in -wen rather than -wyn) Also many people use [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] for [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].

Agree- any Welsh -wen name would be an obvious choice, or just [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] itself (which is lovely). The ‘wen’ name element means “white, fair, shining, holy” (depending on context) so it comes packed with significance if that appeals to you.

[name_u]Wynne[/name_u]
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]
Merewyn
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Wendy[/name_f]
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]

[name_f]Edwina[/name_f] or [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]?

I like the suggestions of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] … two of my favorites!
