When my now-husband and I were first dating, about five years ago, we had a conversation about names that was inspired by a friend’s newborn, and while we didn’t agree on any girls’ names, we both settled on [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] as favourite boys’ names with very little discussion.
We still love [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], but sadly [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] has really faded in our eyes. Obvious alternatives such as [name_m]Zacharias[/name_m]/[name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] feel like too much of a burden to place on a little boy and don’t really go with other names we like (thinking of future sibsets).
Are there any names you can think of that could replace [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] in our hearts?
Have you had a similar falling-out with a name you loved for years?
Zaccai? There are a few different ways to spell it, but it sounds similar to [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] without being clunky like [name_m]Zedekiah[/name_m]. [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] or [name_m]Zebulon[/name_m] might appeal to you if you haven’t considered them already. [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]? [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]?
Thanks for your help From your signature I can tell you have good taste, [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] in particular are names I might put to DH later…
I love [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] but DH doesn’t, and we have a very close friend called [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] so that’s a bit tricky. We’ve also considered other Biblical names but my cousin has just had a baby called [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and our other favourites [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] and [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] don’t go with our surname (which starts with a hard G).
Not sure on the other Z names, they just don’t grab me for some reason.
@Lovemysweeties, you have my style down to a tee! Thanks. Some of the names you’ve suggested are on my list already, some have been vetoed by DH (sob) and there are lots I hadn’t considered before. [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] stands out, as does [name_u]Rhys[/name_u].
[name_m]Zeke[/name_m] is a contender, probably as a short form of [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], but this means not using [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] as I wouldn’t want two boys with the same initials (DH and I share initials already - [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] - and it’s very confusing when the post arrives!)
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m] is a name I love, especially because of [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] in X-Men, but I’ve yet to convince my other half. Maybe someday…
I also love [name_u]Owen[/name_u] but it’s our godson’s name so not useable.
