Recently fallen for [name]Zara[/name]. I love that it brings to mind romance yet strength, with the fun Z beginning. However I am concerned that it is getting to be more popular than I would like and there is a local clothing store with this name.
What alternatives do you think of that are similar to [name]Zara[/name]?
I like that it is 4 letters and sounds nice with our other daughters name [name]Tove[/name] ( like stove)
The two names that quickly popped into my head were [name]Veda[/name] and [name]Nova[/name]. I’ve never met anyone named [name]Zara[/name] before, but I live in Illinois so it might be different where you are.
[name]Ziva[/name] seems utterly perfect for 4 letters, strong Z sound, nice meaning.
I am fond of [name]Zelda[/name] and [name]Zella[/name] but they have 5 letters each. I like that [name]Zelda[/name] means ‘lucky.’
[name]Zora[/name] has 4, though, and means “dawn” and is tied up with Slavic mythology. I like it a lot, though it isn’t quite as sassy as [name]Zelda[/name].
[name]Xanthe[/name] (zan-thee) is really lovely and underused. It isn’t as short as [name]Zara[/name] but has a similar feel.
[name]Mara[/name] and [name]Lara[/name] are my favourite other -aras.
[name]Zora[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name] were the first 2 that I thought of instead of [name]Zara[/name]-- but I see that striped socks beat me to those! Some other suggestions are [name]Zoe[/name], [name]Xena[/name], or [name]Xenia[/name].
I like [name]Ziva[/name] and [name]Zella[/name]! But neither as much as [name]Zara[/name]…
[name]Zora[/name] reminds me of [name]Thora[/name] and [name]Tove[/name] is a derivative of [name]Thor[/name]. I’ve shot myself in the foot naming my stubborn and loud daughter after the God of Thunder… So I’m hesitant and terrified to get anything close to that again!
My three gf’s that I have suggested [name]Zara[/name] to have wrinkled their noses up and said I know babies named [name]Zara[/name], and the other said, " what, like the clothing store?" So my name crush has been crushed…
Thanks for the replies, I’ll run some by hubby! And keep them coming!
