Alternatives to Zelda?

For a while now I have loved the nickname Zellie and would love to add it to my list of favourite names. But I’m not a fan of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] as a name (despite loving the Nintendo game). Is there anything else Zellie could possibly be short for?

I was thinking Azelia (similar to [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]), but I cant find that as an actual name anywhere.

These are a little out-there, but you could use Endzela (means 'snowdrop), [name_f]Gizella[/name_f], [name_f]Graziella[/name_f], [name_f]Jezebel[/name_f], [name_f]Raziela[/name_f], [name_f]Zillah[/name_f], Zhaleh (means ‘dew’ or ‘hoarfrost’) or [name_f]Zuleika[/name_f].

There’s also sweet [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] which I think is a better fit for you ^^
[name_f]Izabela[/name_f], Izolda or [name_f]Rozalia[/name_f] or similar would also be a way to go.

Other than that, I think anything with a prominent cell/sell/zell sound would work, I’m thinking of [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] mostly, but also [name_f]Araceli[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]/[name_f]Celestine[/name_f], [name_f]Rosella[/name_f], [name_f]Selena[/name_f]…

Anything you like?

My partner just suggested [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]/[name_f]Hazelle[/name_f] (strange coincidence). I really like it… but I see it as an Autumnal/Fall name. I love Endzela… but simply for the meaning ‘snowdrop’, oddly enough a lot of my favourite names mean ‘snowdrop’ or ‘snow’ in some sense.

Zellie is cute! I like dearest’s suggestions and agree with the cell/sell/zell advice.

I think [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is the best way to go! [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] works too

Others:
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zella[/name_f]
[name_f]Razel[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestia[/name_f]
[name_f]Selma[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]

[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is one of my favorite names but husband isn’t sold. I’ve been annoying him about it for years. One name that occurred to me and I didn’t see suggested is [name_f]Zelia[/name_f]. I think it’s the right mix of quirky and familiar. Also, why not go straight up [name_f]Zelie[/name_f] or [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]?

I know a Zellie and it’s not a nn, so I think you could just use it without a longer name. I like [name_f]Zelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] as a longer name. Zellie could also be a nn for [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f].

I like PPs’ suggestion of [name_f]Zelia[/name_f] and, of course, [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. There’s also the [name_m]French[/name_m] name Azélie (ah-zay-lee), for which a common diminutive is Zélie, and could also be shortened to Zellie. There’s also [name_f]Zella[/name_f], but given it’s the same number of syllables as Zellie you might as well just use Zellie.

[name_f]Hazelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] seems to be the one my partner likes the most, I’ve agreed to it as well, but only on the count that if and when we do have another daughter she either has brown/hazel eyes or is born during the Autmnal/Fall months.

Otherwise I like the sound of Azelie/[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and Endzela.

Now I just got to figure out a possible middle name. XD
