I found out this is the name of my grandmother’s oldest sister. I love names especially knowing their origins and meanings, but I can not find any information on this name!!!

My grandmother’s heritage is Metis and french canadian. Has anyone heard of this name or have any information on it??

Alyre is an alternative spelling of Allyre. [name_m]Saint[/name_m] Allyre was a 4th-century bishop in [name_f]France[/name_f] who is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church. He’s more commonly known as [name_m]Saint[/name_m] Illidius.

The exact origins and meaning of Allyre are, as far as I know, unknown.
