Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof's new daughter ...

[name]Alyson[/name] Hannigan (best known for playing [name]Willow[/name] on [name]Buffy[/name] the Vampire Slayer and [name]Lily[/name] on [name]How[/name] I Met Your Mother) and her husband [name]Alexis[/name] Denisof (best known for playing [name]Wesley[/name] on both [name]Buffy[/name] the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off show [name]Angel[/name]) have just had a second daughter.

They’ve named her [name]Keeva[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Their older daughter is named [name]Satyana[/name] [name]Marie[/name].

It’s an interesting sibset, I think. If I recall correctly, [name]Satyana[/name] was derived from a Sanskrit term but wasn’t a traditional Sanskirt name (if anyone knows better please feel free to correct me). I believe that [name]Keeva[/name] is an anglicization of the Irish name [name]Caoimhe[/name].

If I remember correctly [name]Satyana[/name]'s name came from the term Satya which means truth. I think they said that they added ana onto the end to make is sound more like an actual name, but I’m not positive. I think [name]Keeva[/name] is a pretty name and goes well with [name]Satyana[/name], I just don’t get how you get the pronounciation [name]Keeva[/name] from [name]Caoimhe[/name], but I’ve never understood Irish names

I like the name I just don’t think they are well matched names…

I read [name]Keeva[/name] is a form of [name]Caoimhe[/name] and means gentleness and beauty… both have wonderful meanings!

If they weren’t going to use the original Irish spelling of [name]Caoimhe[/name] (which is understandable because I have trouble remembering the order of the letters :)), I think the best spelling would have been [name]Kiva[/name]. [name]Keeva[/name] just looks like a phonetic spelling to me.

I do like their mix of unusual, exotic names with lovely meanings and very traditional middles. If they had two more girls they’d probably get [name]Ann[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]. It gives them something simpler to fall back on if they decide they don’t like the more unusual name.

Mmm, I love [name]Alyson[/name] Hannigan but our naming styles really don’t match. I never got used to [name]Satyana[/name] and I don’t like [name]Keeva[/name] any better. They both give me the impression of creative spellings (though I realize that might not the case at all). And they don’t match, in my opinion. Also, I’m quite familiar with a micro-organization called [name]Kiva[/name] so that’s my first association (but of course, I don’t assume everyone knows about that).
