I am not very far along yet, and definitely not to the point of discussing names with my husband (it just isn’t his thing), but I’ve been giving some thought to possible name choices for my little guy/gal. The problem I am running into is that my husband’s children from his previous relationships all have have the same sound at the end of their names. They are [name]Josiah[/name], [name]Stella[/name], and [name]Emma[/name].
Am I stuck using a name that ends in the same sound for the sake of consistency?
Would it be weird to have [name]Josiah[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Emma[/name], and [name]Violet[/name]? [name]How[/name] about [name]Josiah[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Emma[/name], and [name]Simon[/name]?
Also, what do you think of some of my current favorite first names? [name]Do[/name] you have suggestions to add?
I don’t think you’re stuck. [name]Don[/name]'t choose a name ending in “ah” because you think you should. Choose a name you love! I love all your choices so far! My personal favourites are [name]Margot[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]. I’ll get back to you with further suggestions!
I dont think you are stuck. I think all your name choices are nice. My favorite from your girl list is [name]Violet[/name] and boys is [name]Andrew[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name].
I agree, I don’t think you’re stuck at all. It’s funny, my parents had the opposite problem naming me and my siblings–our last name starts with O, so anything ending in -a or -ah slurs together to sound like uh-oh.
From your list, I love [name]June[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Sebastian[/name]. All your choices are great options. Personally, I think [name]Josiah[/name], [name]Stella[/name], and [name]Emma[/name] have way different vibes, so you aren’t locked into any one style.
I like [name]Margot[/name], [name]June[/name], [name]Andrew[/name], and [name]Sebastian[/name].
You definitely don’t need to use a name with the same ending if you don’t want to! It’s not a good enough reason to avoid your favorite names, imo. Best wishes!
I don’t think you are stuck, unless your husband wants to continue the pattern. Your list has lovely names that work very well with the names of your stepchildren.
I don’t think so. Name endings are nowhere as noticeable as initials. Maybe if you had a [name]Josiah[/name], a [name]Jane[/name], and a [name]Juliet[/name] I would advise you against breaking the theme, but not in this case.
Plus they are your step-children — assuming they don’t live with you 24/7, I don’t think you need to match the names perfectly. Chose the names you like best.
[name]Violet[/name], [name]Abigail[/name], [name]Charles[/name], and [name]Milo[/name] are my favourites.
Fortunately, our last name is not extremely hard to find a name that flows well. My friend has the last name [name]Ono[/name], and she has been having problems coming up with names that sound right with it. She said every time she comes up with a name it sounds like, “[name]Genevieve[/name], oh no.”
I agree that [name]Josiah[/name], [name]Stella[/name], and [name]Emma[/name] are very different stylistically. [name]Josiah[/name] actually has a different mother than [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Emma[/name], and honestly I don’t think the girls’ mother was worried at all about how their names went with his. I just want us to all sound like a family though. Thanks for the feedback!
[name]True[/name], they do not live with us all of the time, but I still want the name we choose to sound nice with their names. I may not be their mother, but my husband is their father and we want them to sound like a family unit. I appreciate your feedback! I really like [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Milo[/name], but [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name] are both family names that I am drawn to.
