Bexley doesn’t have any substance to me.
Another example of a trendy syllable mash-up name with no history, no significance, and no strength. Instantly dated and just as soon forgotten. Sorry, not a fan. [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] or [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] (for a boy) are infinitely preferable.
A relative of my dad’s named their daughter Bixley and I have to say I am not a fan of either name at all. Sorry!
I’m not really a fan either. I can certainly see the appeal though. It fits the x name trend and the -ley trend. Its just not for me.
I’m not a fan of Bexley at all. It sounds very unattractive and looks tryndy.
I saw that pinterest post a while back too. Bexley is probably one of my least favorite names. It just isn’t attractive looking or sounding to me. I usually don’t like names ending in -ley/lee/leigh though as there are so many these days its overwhelming. And the suffix Bex- reminds me of something it rhymes with, which puts me off even further. But to each their own.
Bexley just isn’t getting much love. However, I do think the name would fit right in with the Braylie’s and [name_u]Brinley[/name_u]'s that she would probably share a class with. It’s unfortunately not my style either, but I do think the nickname Bex is cute. I know a 20-something Bex. I always assumed her name was short for [name_f]Becca[/name_f]/[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f].
I have to say I’m not remotely a fan at all, either. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister is a [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], and I really like [name_f]Becca[/name_f], and [name_m]Bec/name_m, but I’ve always found Bex really annoyingly pretentious, for some reason, and Bexley just seems really made up and unappealing. I really quite strongly dislike it. I much prefer [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], or even [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] or [name_m]Huxley[/name_m] on a boy…
Totally a trendy name but I like it!
Sorry, I agree with everyone that Bexley sounds a little too made up and lacks substance. Sounds more like a pet name.
I don’t like it at all, Bexley is a borough in [name_u]London[/name_u] and should just stay as a borough name. It’s awfully trendy.
Well, Bexley is a place in Ohio. It’s an old place(not that old, but still old) that was founded as a village around a hundred years ago. It’s known for large houses and estates. It’s been the home of a lot of prominent citizens(to Ohio). It’s home to the original [name_m]Drexel[/name_m] Theater. Bexley also houses many works from well-known artists, like Holocaust survivor [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] [name_m]Tibor[/name_m]. I just wanted to give some reasons that her parents might of chosen this name. I also think it might be an older surname(like Foxley or Huxter)that nobody really knows about anymore, but I’m most definitely not positive.
Absolutely atrocious, that it is a place does not legitimize the use of this word as a name. I wouldn’t name a child Saginaw or Elkhart, either. Also, when I say it out loud I immediately think ‘sexily.’
Exactly this. Bexley is a place to me, not a name. I can sort of see the appeal in that it’s got trendy sounds, but if I came across a kid named Bexley I’d wonder why, of all the place names in the world, the parents chose a fairly boring [name_u]London[/name_u] borough.
I’m not a fan of it but I love [name_m]Berkeley[/name_m]/[name_m]Berkley[/name_m] but would only use it as a middle name.
I think it’s cute! I wouldn’t pick it but I love it’s not a cookie cutter name! I prefer names that aren’t as trendy or popular. Neither of my kids names are or the top 100 list. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter’s name isn’t even on the top 2000!
plus, bex is a cute nickname! I also like Loxley!
