Am trying on Seren. Any thoughts?

[name]Just[/name] putting it out there so any hideous nick names or associations can be explored before it makes my list seriously. Normally I am obsessed with N, I, A names so this is out of the box for me. All comments welcome, I am not all that attached to it yet.

I like [name]Seren[/name], but possibly like [name]Soren[/name] better. I think [name]Seren[/name] looks like [name]Seven[/name] at first glance, but if paired with a feminine middle name, could be amazing. [name]Seren[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would be my favorite.

[name]Seren[/name] is lovely : )

Pronounced Sair-en, or sa-[name]REN[/name]?

Either way, sounds lovely, but does blend in a bit with the other sort of trendyish “en” names, [name]Gavin[/name], [name]Teagan[/name], etc etc. But pretty, no doubt about it.

Exactly as you see it, no ‘a’ involved. Like seven but with an ‘r’ instead of a ‘v’. It’s Welsh for star.

In that case, to the OP, do be conscious of folks mispronouncing it. I have a good friend whose daughter is named “[name]Kerry[/name]”, and folks are always pronouncing it like, “[name]Carrie[/name]”, regardless of how much she redirects them. Or they’ll start pronouncing it “[name]Curry[/name]”, which is obviously no more desirable. “e + r” isn’t the most natural sound combo in the American dialect of English, and when we do get it, such as in “emERgency”, it’s more of a “ur” sound. But if you’re somewhere else, that’s not a concern.

[name]Love[/name], love, love the name [name]Seren[/name]!

Ditto! I think [name]Serena[/name] is much more mainstream, but I swoon every time I come across [name]Seren[/name], I really love it.

[name]Seren[/name] was on my long list for a daughter and I think it’s gorgeous! Serry or [name]Ren[/name] make beautiful nicknames! Very pretty name.

i like seren but always feel like it is serenity with the ‘ity’ cut off! or [name]Serene[/name] with the e cut off but particularly serenity as it is pronounced as the first half of the word. it is really beautiful though…

I can’t think if any associations or terrible nicknames for [name]Seren[/name]. However, I do think a lot of people will have trouble knowing how to pronounce it. Like one of the posters said the er is difficult to pronounce. I have to say that I have. Hard time pronouncing it without it veering into “ur” territory

I really love [name]Seren[/name]!

I think it’s a really pretty, gentle name, that’s just unusual enough. I like the “serene” association, and the meaning of star. If you wanted to keep with the star theme, and an N name,
[name]Seren[/name] [name]Novella[/name] (variant of [name]Nova[/name], “new”)

Thanks for the feed back. It’s growing on us : )

I find it intriguing, but I’m also a bit confused about the pronunciation. Is it

sir-ren, like serenity without the -ity, or

se-ren, like seven with an r?

I tend to want to pronounce it sair-ren.

Like I said before. Seven but with an ‘r’. Also, ‘serenity’ and ‘seven’ have the same starting sound ‘seh’.

Of course, you are right. Darn childhood accent kicking in again.

A girl at my high school is named Ceren (pronounced [name]JER[/name]-ren) And everyone loves her name! I’ve never heard of [name]Seren[/name] though, but I like it!

My daughter’s name is [name]Serenity[/name] and I think [name]Seren[/name] just sounds incomplete to me. I don’t care for it too much.

Where I live the name [name]Seren[/name] is very popular (because I live in [name]Wales[/name]) but it’s still a pretty name and it’s prn SEH-ren. It means star in Welsh, which is very cute too. The only negative about the name I have is, because Welsh is my first language it feels more like a word than a name to me. But outside of [name]Wales[/name] you wouldn’t really have that problem
