Amabel?

What are your thoughts on the name [name]Amabel[/name] for a girl? Like, dislike?

Have any first name suggestions for [name]Amabel[/name]?

 Thanks!

[name]Amabel[/name] has been a secret love for about forty years, since I read a book by (I think) [name]Barbara[/name] Michaels called [name]Ammie[/name], Come Home about an [name]Amabel[/name]. So much better than the dull overused [name]Amanda[/name]. And [name]Ammie[/name], [name]Ami[/name], Mabby, and [name]Mabel[/name] can all be nns.

I’ve always thought of [name]Amabel[/name] as a first name but…
[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Leonora[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Katharine[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Amabel[/name] or [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Mercedes[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Montserrat[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]

Some ideas, anyway.

Sorry if I offend but I’m really not a fan!
All I hear is amble. Sorry!

I think it’s a lovely name but will be strongly associated with the -bel/le trend that characterizes a lot of girls names currently.

I think a lot of people will miss-hear it as [name]Annabelle[/name].

I’ve never heard this name pronounced. Is it a short a sound like apple, an a like in auto, or a long a like amiable? [name]Love[/name] the meaning of lovable. I think it makes an memorable and meaningful mn but that it’s fine as a first too.

It is the root of [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name], n ancient name. I love it dearly. It is prn. ah mah bel, not may bel.

I think it’s gorgeous. I do agree though that you’d have to contend with a lot of people hearing/seeing [name]Anabel[/name]/[name]Annabel[/name].

I love both [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name], and I adore [name]Amabel[/name]! And [name]Mabs[/name] is such a sweet nickname! However, almost everyone I’ve mentioned it to comes to the immediate conclusion that it’s either a trendy spin on [name]Annabel[/name], or I have some sort of speech problem and I’m trying to say [name]Annabel[/name], which is the main thing which would put me off from using it. These just sprung to mind:

[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Gracie[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]

Oh, my heart just skipped a beat when I saw the title of this thread. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]! I plan to use it in the middle if I have another girl fingers crossed! I would use it as a first name, but I have a dog named [name]Annabelle[/name], and that would be a little too much confusion for me. It’s a great name. Lots of history, pleasing sound, wonderful meaning. Good luck! I hope you use it!

Sorry to say I really dislike it. It would certainly be confused for [name]Annabelle[/name] all the time, and all I think of is “I am a belle.”

I love the name [name]Amabel[/name]!

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Xanthe[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Carys[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Eve[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]

[name]Amabel[/name] is certainly not as recognizable as [name]Annabell[/name] but it’s certainly just as pretty. I love the way it sounds, and the unusualness of it. I would use it as a first name, but if you want it as a middle, it would sound nice there too.

I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]. Hubby vetoed though.

I love [name]Amabel[/name]! So gorgeous. I do think people would confuse it for [name]Annabel[/name] though.
