I say uh-MAAH-lee-uh
maah like in grandma.
I say uh-MAHL-ee-yah
ah-mal-ee-uh
Mal like [name_u]Mallory[/name_u], I’m in the UK for reference
Definitely like [name_f]Molly[/name_f]…the only other way I would’ve pronounced would’ve maybe been AM-a-LEE-a. Super cute name!
ah-MAH-lee-ah/ah-MOLL-ee-yah for me! I agree that this is the most international; to my understanding, Germanic, Latin, maybe even Slavic languages would all say it this way. I’ve never heard MAL like [name_u]Mallory[/name_u], but I guess it makes sense for [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers. I definitely prefer MOLL like [name_f]Molly[/name_f].
I’m not American and my accent doesn’t have that æ sound.
I’d say my pronunciation is closest to uh-MAH-lee-uh.
I’d say it like [name_f]Molly[/name_f]!
I’d say [name_m]Ah[/name_m] - Mahl - Ya, mahl rhyming with pal.
Like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], or…
I say it like [name_f]Molly[/name_f]!
My instinct is ah-malya.
The lady named [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] that I know pronounces it Am-are-leah
Thank you so much for all the help everyone! It’s so interesting so see how this name can be said a multitude of ways, especially with different accents!
