Amalthea

Hello, so I recently I watched one of my favorite movies growing; The Last Unicorn, and I recently realized spoiler alert that when the Unicorn turned human, she was given the name [name_f]Amalthea[/name_f] when she meets the king.. What are your thoughts on this name? I especially like it because of the nickname [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and that it’s not common at all in the US. What are your thoughts on [name_f]Amalthea[/name_f]? TIA!

I like it! I think it’s unique without being too out there and the meaning “tender goddess” is lovely. Gives me fairy/elvenesque vibes :sparkles:

I like it! Reminds me of [name_f]Amalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], which I love.

I really like [name_f]Amalthea[/name_f]! I’m familiar with this name from Greek mythology, [name_f]Amalthea[/name_f]/Amaltheia was a foster-mother to [name_m]Zeus[/name_m]. :slightly_smiling_face:

In some sourches [name_f]Amalthea[/name_f] is the goat and in other she is a nymph.

I think [name_f]Amalthea[/name_f] is a cool name and I like the nickname [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. However, I would personally prefer [name_f]Amalthea[/name_f] for a pet, especially a goat, instead of for a human.

My friend goes to school with an [name_f]Amalthea[/name_f]. Since hearing it I’ve never liked the name because for a long time it sounded either like [name_f]Amalfi[/name_f]-uh as in the place in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] and I’m not a fan of place name names. And otherwise ends up sounding like “uh-mouthy-uh” when people talk quickly which is not nice. It’s basically a bit of a mouthful to say.

Very pretty. It has very spring-like images for me. The nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is really cute!

Sounds like a place in a fantasy novel to me. I don’t really care for it.
