A while ago the “name” Amarynthe popped into my head. I could have sworn I’d heard it somewhere before, but I must have made it up, as a google search of Amarynthe reveals nothing.
Now I can’t get it out of my head, but I would never used a made-up name. So I was wondering what names could you suggest that sound similar?
I’ve considered [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] or [name_f]Amethyst[/name_f], and though lovely names, neither have the same feel as Amarynthe for me.
but amaranthus caudatus is a really cool cottage garden plant. It’s also called [name_f]Love[/name_f] Lies Bleeding and has other funny common names. Hangs over the garden gate with its melodramatic and beautiful/ugly burgundy spires.
lesliemarion - Now you mention it I’m sure I’ve heard of Amaranthus before. I’m no gardener myself but my mother has a real green thumb.
Seems my brain was either inspired by a Scandinavian rock band or a garden plant and created a new name…
Wait, it’s not a name?! That name’s been in my head for the longest time as well! Weird… Wait a second, I was thinking of Amaranthe, which is a name. Nevermind!
I have seen the name Amaranth and [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f], so I think it’s plausible that you’ve see Amarynthe somewhere! It’s after the flower amaranth, which I think represents “unfading” or “unfading love”.
Amarynthe sort of reminds me of a middle-point between [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] and Amaranthe. Amanthis is similar and pretty, too.
Amaranthus is a type of flower mentioned in one of my favorite songs actually. That’s the only place I’ve heard of it. Never heard of it (or variants of it) being used as a name, but it’s pleasant enough.
Really cool meaning though! I looked it up in the dictionary and it says “An imaginary, undying flower. A flower that never fades”
