Amelia or Emmeline? NN Dodie?

I really like both [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] as names but think they are too similar for a sibset. I like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] because I think it is simple, sweet yet strong for a girl yet cannot think of any nicknames I particularly like for it. I think it is nice how [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is quite a down to earth name. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], on the other hand, is beautiful and I love the nickname [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]. I think it is lovely how the name [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] relates to [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] Pankhurst, the British Suffragette. Similarly, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] would be after [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Earhart[/name_f], the female pilot. Which one do you prefer? Is [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] less down to earth and more fancy than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know any good nicknames for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]? Are [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] too similar as sisters?

P.S. can you think of any great long names for [name_f]Dodie[/name_f]? I wouldn’t like to put [name_f]Dodie[/name_f] on a birth certificate but think it is adorable as a nickname and has vintage charm. I don’t like [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]/ [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f].

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] are gorgeous names! I think they work perfectly well as sisters, an they don’t outshine each other (in either direction).

I adore both names, but [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is a little too popular for me and I adore nn [name_f]Em[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmie[/name_f] so I’d say that [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is my favorite. I dont think theyre too much alike, I could see them as sisters.
Some nicknames for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] could be [name_f]Ame[/name_f] (pronounced like the word aim), [name_u]Mel[/name_u], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_m]Al[/name_m], [name_u]Ali[/name_u], [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ela[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] and Theodula/Theodoula are the only names that come to mind.

I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] would be fantastic sisters! [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is my favorite. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is the original long form of Dodi…I think. [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] would also work.

I would use [name_f]Dodie[/name_f] as nickname for [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] always makes me think of the character in Vanity Fair.

I prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], although I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is nice as well. I don’t think one is fancier or prettier than the other. They both have vintage charm. They aren’t too similar for a sibset either, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. It might get confusing if you were to call them [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] and [name_f]Amy[/name_f] or something, but I don’t think they’re too similar at all.

Thanks for the ideas- I think most people prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and I can see how with different nn they could beoth work nicely as sisters.

@araminty I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and never thought of it as a long name for [name_f]Dodie[/name_f] so thank you! [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] in vanity fair is a consideration as the surname is very similar, so thank you!

My aunt was named [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and her nn was [name_f]Mollie[/name_f].

I have a friend who has an [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and her nn is [name_f]Milly[/name_f]. I probably prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] to [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], even if it is a little bit more popular. I think it sounds really pretty. Also could shorten it to [name_f]Amy[/name_f].

In saying that, I don’t think they’re too similar to have as sisters. [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] and [name_f]Milly[/name_f] would be super cute sisters.

I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] over [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] because of the nn options: [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] etc.
I don’t think they’re too similar for sisters, unless you go with nn [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] and [name_f]Amy[/name_f] haha.

For [name_f]Dodie[/name_f] I immediately thought of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] (or [name_f]Melody[/name_f]/[name_f]Melodie[/name_f])
