Amias? Nicknames?

I have recently found the name [name]Amias[/name] and fallen in love with it… I have lots of ideas of what middles to use with it as a first name, but am not sure if it is:
A) too girly?
B) does it have any nicknames for a boy?

Some of the combos I like with it are:

[name]Amias[/name] [name]Adair[/name]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Berkeley[/name]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Bravery[/name]
[name]Amias[/name] Champion
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Fox[/name]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Francis[/name]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Loyal[/name]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Noble[/name]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Powers[/name]

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce this - uh-my-us? uh-me-us?

When I look at it, all I think of is [name]Amy[/name]…so that’s a no-go for me.

it is pronounced: um-EYE-us … I know the [name]Amy[/name] thing is rough!

Hmm, I do like the sound of it. Perhaps Ames could be a nn? (prn like [name]James[/name] without the J)

I like Ames or maybe [name]Mio[/name] (MEE-o, rhyming with [name]Leo[/name] — though I guess it could be MY-o too if it worked better with the pronunciation) for a nickname.

I love [name]Amias[/name]! It’s on my own list. [name]Amias[/name] has a great meaning and I like that it feels colonial but not out of place today. I find it to be a handsome, distinguished, and kinda-rugged-but-still-soft name. Personally, I wouldn’t use a nickname for it.

I love [name]Amias[/name] [name]Fox[/name], [name]Amias[/name] [name]Loyal[/name], and [name]Amias[/name] [name]Noble[/name]. Are any of your middle name choices family names?

Thanks! I like the suggestion of [name]Mio[/name]!

@southern.maple
Yes! the following are names I chose to honor family

[name]Amias[/name] [name]Berkeley[/name] [where my parents met]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Francis[/name] [DH’s father’s name]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name] [to honor my mother, [name]Laura[/name]]
[name]Amias[/name] [name]Powers[/name] [family name]

[name]Amias[/name] is on my list. I like [name]Ami[/name] “aw-me” as a nn (it’s also a stand alone Hebrew name). I also like [name]Miah[/name] “my-ah” but you’re concerned about “girly” names then it’s not for you

The combos I like are [name]Amias[/name] [name]Adair[/name] and [name]Amias[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name]

I did not know that was how it was pronounced. Thank you. My first exposure to this name was from [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] I believe. It does have a certain charm to it. Although I was saying AM-ee-us. The name profiles says it can also be AIM-ee-us. I think I like that pronunciation better.

[name]Love[/name], love, love [name]Amias[/name]! It’s not too girly for me at all. I don’t think it really needs a nn, personally (that, and the only nn I can really think of is [name]Amy[/name] or [name]Maya[/name]–I know a guy named [name]Jeremiah[/name] nn [name]Miah[/name] (pronounced like [name]Maya[/name]), and he totally rocks it, but I’m not sure every little boy would). I love [name]Amias[/name] [name]Fox[/name] from your combos.

I’d say [name]Ah[/name]-myas.
I like combos with [name]Amias[/name] that have a more traditional mn. From your list [name]Amias[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name] is my favorite.
