I am aware of Amityville Horror. I actually can’t watch horror/scary movies, but I love witchy/supernatural vibes. This association isn’t an issue for me.
The meaning of “friendship” is actually what caught my eye. I intend to raise my future kid with my friends who are single moms. Also, my future kid’s donor and I met through a mutual friend and we’ve since become great friends. So [name_f]Amity[/name_f] is extremely fitting, overall!
Lastly, I am a huge rock/metal fan and there’s a band called The [name_f]Amity[/name_f] Affliction. The reason behind it is sad tho. The original band members had a friend named [name_f]Amity[/name_f] who passed away in a car accident. And “affliction” is for how they struggled to cope with the loss. Still, when people in my circle hear [name_f]Amity[/name_f], they think of this kick@ss band, which is a very positive association, for me!
If you know someone named [name_f]Amity[/name_f], do they go by their full name? Or do they have a nickname?
I’m not a fan of the nn [name_f]Amy[/name_f]. It’s pretty, but too common for my taste. Any other ideas?
I know this little girl by the name of [name_f]Amity[/name_f] (7) shes very friendly and sweet, I just called her [name_f]Amity[/name_f], but I recall her friends calling her ‘[name_f]Mitzi[/name_f]’ which was interesting, I had never considered [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Amity[/name_f]!
This may be a bit of an overshare with personal info, but I actually live extremely close to the Amityville horror house. Despite that, I don’t associate the name [name_f]Amity[/name_f] with the house/movies that much! I also love horror though, so I agree that the spooky/witchy vibes of [name_f]Amity[/name_f] are a plus!
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though there are some creepy associations with [name_f]Amity[/name_f], the name definitely feels more peaceful, light, and friendly.
I also really like The [name_f]Amity[/name_f] Affliction association!
Honestly, this name feels like a perfect fit for you! I love the meaning it has for you. I don’t personally know anyone named [name_f]Amity[/name_f], but I would love to meet one!
I really like the [name_u]Ami[/name_u] and [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] suggestions. [name_f]Amma[/name_f]/Ama, [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], Mitty, and [name_f]Mita[/name_f] are other options! Or perhaps a nickname relating to her middle!
This is my sports medicine doctors name. She is beautiful, smart, and kind ive always loved the name because of her. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Amity[/name_f] no nickname
I taught swim lessons to a girl named [name_f]Amity[/name_f] who was about 9, and this was maybe 4 years ago. I don’t know if she went by any nicknames but I called her [name_f]Amity[/name_f].
I met a girl named [name_f]Amity[/name_f]! I think it’s super sweet and she definitely fit the name. Her middle name was also [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f], so she was definitely lively and bright! They’re aren’t many nicknames I can think of that work unfortunately (besides Tee or Mitty and I don’t love those). I love [name_f]Amity[/name_f] though! Beautiful name
@regionlatbest Thank you for sharing! I like [name_f]Ama[/name_f] better than [name_f]Amy[/name_f] / [name_u]Ami[/name_u]. I feel like [name_f]Amity[/name_f] would be a mouthful for some kids (I have a young relative who needs speech therapy and I know she couldn’t say [name_f]Amity[/name_f]), so I definitely need a nn, even if she ends up going by [name_f]Amity[/name_f] most of her life.
@Greyblue [name_f]My[/name_f] friend’s mom goes by [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] to her grandkids, so I can’t see myself using that one, but it is cute!
@catieQ [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] definitely offsets the horror association I have quite a few options for the middle names, one of which is [name_u]Salem[/name_u], so I know I won’t be using that one here! [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_u]Salem[/name_u] is too dark, even for me
@MisterUranium Ooohh I Googled that, very happy to see the character is a witch This also reminds me of the association with the Divergent franchise. There’s a faction (I think is what it’s called, but it’s like a Hogwarts House ) called [name_f]Amity[/name_f] which is the equivalent of Hufflepuff
isn’t the [name_f]Amity[/name_f] faction very corrupt and they find out everyone is drugged the whole time? I love the name and the meaning but I think Divergent isn’t the best example haha
