Amos?

Our baby boy is due on the 16th and we’ve had the name [name_m]Amos[/name_m] [name_m]Frederik[/name_m] chosen since we found out that he is a boy. We started sharing the name with family and friends about a week or so ago and although many of them liked it, some of them made a face or said something the lines of “[name_m]Amos[/name_m]? Really?” We love the name and want to look past the comments but it’s making us doubt using the name. As much as we love it, we don’t want to make things harder for our baby boy. Should we keep [name_m]Amos[/name_m] or look for something else?

I’m really not a fan of it. I think that [name_m]Amias[/name_m] or [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] would be a better choice. They sound more soft and friendly. I would also use the usual spelling of Frederick.

If you both love [name_m]Amos[/name_m], you should keep it. I don’t think that [name_m]Amos[/name_m] would make things harder for your child later on, especially with how diverse names are now a days. I would say if you’re very worried about it, maybe brainstorm a few more options and wait until the baby is born to see what name fits him most. if it’s [name_m]Amos[/name_m], fantastic, if it’s not at least you have a few other names to consider.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_m]Amos[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is dashing! It’s vintage & unique, but it at the same time doesn’t seem like it’s trying too hard. I wouldn’t worry for a second what others think. He’s your little babe; not theirs’. Also, once they meet the little cutie, they’ll start associating the name [name_m]Amos[/name_m] with him & will likely fall in love with it.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

If you love it then use it! When he’s born they will fall in love with the name just like you have! If you really don’t like it anymore then change it. I like previously suggestions of [name_m]Amias[/name_m]. But I don’t think you should change it because other people don’t like it.

I love it! I like Ames too but [name_m]Amos[/name_m] is awesome! [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t let them ruin it for you. I never shared my kids names with my parents , [name_u]Cedar[/name_u] and [name_f]Maple[/name_f]. They were poops about it at first… but now it’s hard to imagine them as anyone else. Follow your heart. It’s your baby!!!

[name_m]Amos[/name_m] is fantastic! I’d say keep it -people will get used to it:)

[name_m]Amos[/name_m] is so handsome! There are children with much more out-there names than a unique classic like [name_m]Amos[/name_m]. Definitely go for it, I think you’ll regret it if you dont.

I’m guessing the people who wrinkled their nose at it don’t have young kids, because I wouldn’t be surprised at all to meet a little [name_m]Amos[/name_m] at my kids daycare. I’m a fan of the lesser-used bible names that are a little more popular now than in recent years ([name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], [name_m]Amos[/name_m]). It’s a great name, it’s unique but certainly not unusual, it won’t be a weird outlier among his peers. Pick [name_m]Amos[/name_m]! No matter what you pick, it isn’t going to make everyone happy. So make yourselves happy and pick this name that has already brought you so much joy.

Keep it! [name_m]Amos[/name_m] is very cool, and I think you’ll be ahead of the curve on this one. It’s got the same cool, old school Biblical vibe as names like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_m]Moses[/name_m] (and [name_u]Noah[/name_u], back in the day). Good luck.

I love [name_m]Amos[/name_m]! Honestly one of my favorites  I like Ames as a nickname ”
