Today at work I came across a man whose name was Everton. I instantly loved it, but I’ve always loved Ev- names ([name]Everett[/name], [name]Evelina[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Ever[/name], etc.). I don’t think I love it more than my beloved [name]Everett[/name], but I do like it a lot, and the man I met wears it so well. I think it could be a nice alternative to the rising [name]Everett[/name].
Ooh, I like that too! Hunh. I too think I prefer [name]Everett[/name], but Everton is interesting if [name]Everett[/name] grows really far. I am surpised more ton names aren’t in, they can be very handsome. Good spot!
I’m a little hesitant about it, because it feels like it’s just an alternative to [name]Everett[/name]. But that may have more to do with the context; I don’t think, if I were introduced to an Everton, that my first thought would be that his parents were just looking for an alternative to [name]Everett[/name]. I do think it’s a nice name. The Ev softens the -ton ending, which I sometimes find a little heavy or harsh.
I think Everton could work and I think it would make [name]Ever[/name] an even more obvious NN. I like [name]Everett[/name] more though because it could have [name]Rhett[/name] as a NN. Everton kind of feels a little surnamey though too, just something to consider. What about [name]Everest[/name]? I think it would be a great alternative to [name]Everett[/name]. I just want to say though too that I don’t think that [name]Everett[/name] is really so trendy that it needs an alternative
Thanks! He was actually the father of some of the students who attended my old high school. I’ve seen him around several times, but I just keep coming back to his name. I think it’s so cool. I don’t really think anyone would have to wait until [name]Everett[/name] got really popular to use it–I think it really fits in with the styles right now.
ha, lol, I don’t think it needs an alternative in that it’s too popular/trendy (and I’m definitely not looking for one!), but I do think [name]Evelina[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name] could be alternatives for each other, like just another way to get to [name]Evie[/name] if you’re not crazy about one of them, you know? That’s how I was thinking with [name]Everett[/name] and Everton.
For what it’s worth, I would NOT do [name]Everest[/name]. It has a nice look and sound, but can you imagine if he was overweight? I have weight issues so it just wouldn’t be a kind decision to give my child a name that could potentially end up getting him teased mercilessly, especially if he inherited my penchant for snack foods.
I have a couple of name like that, where I go back and forth on different variations. Yeah, I did not think about weight issues, that would pretty much be torture
