Partner really likes this name for a girl, as he lived in [name_f]France[/name_f] for a few years when younger so pronounces it the correct way [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-Nay-Ees, where as I want to pronounce it an-nays, and I think where we live (UK) people would pronounce it the same way as me.
I think the spelling and name is pretty and the meaning. However not sure it goes with our children [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f].

I say it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-nay-ees too-- there’s a perfume [name_f]Anais[/name_f] [name_f]Anais[/name_f]. It’s a very pretty name but I don’t think it fits with your other children’s names very well. But, what about [name_f]Anais[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]-- this would work very well!
I wear the scent [name_f]Anais[/name_f] [name_f]Anais[/name_f], which is the only reason why I wouldn’t use the name for my own child, but I think both the [name_m]French[/name_m] and the Anglicised versions are beautiful! I think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Anais[/name_f] would be unexpected, but in a good way - I like how the ‘ee’ sound is slightly repeated in all three, which ties them together quite nicely. [name_f]Annie[/name_f] could be a sweet nickname, and I know an [name_f]Anais[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Nia[/name_f] as well, if nicknames appeal.
I’d definitely say [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-Nay-Ees. It’s a gorgeous name, and matches [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] well. Are [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] nicknames? If so, then [name_f]Anais[/name_f] has the nickname possibilities of [name_f]Ann[/name_f] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f], both of which would be lovely. @daviesellu, I wasn’t sure if [name_f]Anais[/name_f] went well. This is my partners choice, which although I think it sounds lovely I am not 100%.
I love [name_f]Annie[/name_f] though, and it has family connections for me too, but Oh doesn’t like this!
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Anais[/name_f], my friend’s daughter’s name. She pronounces is more like [name_f]Ana[/name_f]-ees. I don’t love matchy sibsets anyway and think it doesn’t not work.
I had [name_f]Maelys[/name_f] on my list - pronounced halfway between My-elise or My-lease. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the Maely ([name_f]Miley[/name_f]) nn option here too.
I used to work with a company that dealt with the fragrance anais anais, and they always said. An a and left the is silent. I love love this name and have thought about using it myself, but was put off by someone telling me it looked on paper too similar to anus. I am not sure other’s would think this though and dont mean to put you off, as it is a lovely name.
It is a shame! maybe try looking at the comments on the names page on this site, or google it. As sometimes people who have the name will comment and let you know their exprience to date of living with the name ie teasing etc etc. It might be worth it too know if it is just a few silly comments or if it is a liklihood.
I think I just don’t like it as much as OH. I might just put a thread up to see what people would name our daughter. I have such different taste to my partner on girls names. It still is a pretty name but maybe not for me
