ANALisa

My husband and I are both picky, and have very different taste in names. We finally found a name that both of us like. [name_f]Analisa[/name_f]. But then of course someone in the comments pointed out that it has the word anal in it. Haha. So I was thinking about just changing the spelling to [name_f]Annelisa[/name_f]. But I still don’t know if I can get past the association.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think anal will still catch peoples notice if we spell it [name_f]Annelisa[/name_f]? Am I over thinking or is this a legit concern? In the meantime I am still searching for alternatives, but it isn’t going well.

I would be tempted to pronounce [name_f]Annelisa[/name_f] ann-lisa rather than anna-lisa. Why not [name_f]Annalisa[/name_f]? It’s simple and classy. You could also use [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and pronounce it the traditional [name_m]German[/name_m] way, ahn-uh-leez-ah, but it could be confusing or need to get explained a lot.

Hey there. My name is actually [name_f]Annalisa[/name_f], and I never had any problems with this, so I can recommend you the name if you like it. Many people actually like my name, especially males. Otherwise, since my surname, in my own language which is nothing like the English language, contains the word poo, it is quite a combo: anal - poo! But as mentioned, I have , so far , never had any trouble. I did not even think of my names containing such things until very recently, and I am 50 years old by now.

Best, [name_f]Anna[/name_f]

You know what? Spell it however you want. I really doubt that many people in the real world would make the connection. Pretty name.

I don’t think many people would make that connection. If you have a complex about it, keep the original spelling with another N. [name_f]Annalisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Annelisa[/name_f] are beautiful names. With [name_f]Annelisa[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f]/[name_f]Anne[/name_f] may be viable nicknames.

Thank you all. That’s so helpful. I was really sad thinking we shouldn’t use this name.

I’d go with [name_f]Annelisa[/name_f].

I was in love with [name_f]Annelisa[/name_f] as well as the nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. My husband liked it too so it was a serious contender. Then my friend mentioned it sounded like Anal ease and I couldn’t get past the association. I still think it’s a beautiful name.
