We both love [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], but the issue is…
[name_m]How[/name_m] is it pronounced? We have it ana-stay-sha; but others may pronounce it ana-staz-sia. Because of this ‘issue’ we are likely only ever going to use it as one of two middle names, but we totally love it enough to use as a first. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like this name and how would you pronounce it?
I think it’s a nice name, just a little too frilly for my taste. I’d pronounce it an-nah-sta-see-uh.
I think it’s very east European / Slavic, but they have many pretty names. It’s also frilly
Where I’m from we would say an-nah-sta-see-uh, and that’s also how I pronounce it
Very pretty. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you not like the other pronunciation? It doesn’t seem that far off and if you really love the name? I understand, though, if you really don’t like another possible pronunciation.
I say it ‘An-nah-stay-sjuh’ <- obviously not official way to write this but I have no idea how to communicate the sound otherwise.
I think it’s beautiful, but definitely frilly. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I would say ana-stay-zha - I think where I live (midwest U.S.) any other pronunciation would sound very affected unless the person in question was of significant Slavic heritage.
I would say ah-nah-stah-see-ah, but I’m European. In the US [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] would probably be ah-nah-stay-zah, though I think the European pronunciation is prettier.
I like the name! I know 2 Anastasias, both very sweet. I like that it has a lot of nicknames and is feminine but also kind of strong-sounding.
