Anders -- how do YOU pronounce it?

[name]ANN[/name]-ders, and I’m on the [name]East[/name] coast USA.

When I first saw this thread my reaction was, “[name]How[/name] [name]ELSE[/name] can you pronounce [name]Anders[/name]??” Here in Minnesota it is definitely [name]ANN[/name]-ders I am an [name]Anna[/name]… “[name]ANN[/name]-A” and have run into a few people wanting to call me “ON-A,” but it has never bothered me.

[name]Ann[/name]-ders. I’m in the midwestern U.S. and that is my nephew’s name. He uses it as a nn for [name]Alexander[/name].

I voted ON-ders, but I want to write it as AHN-dersh (the ‘s’ has more of a ‘sh’ sound when I say it). I’m in Australia, and while I do believe most here would say [name]ANN[/name]-ders, my own pronunciation of the name I picked up after some time spent in Norway (I stayed with people with a son names [name]Anders[/name], so I heard it a lot) so I’m biased to the Australian regional pronunciation I suppose.

I love the name!

I say AHN-dersh/[name]ANN[/name]-dersh and I’m from [name]Sweden[/name]. It’s difficult to translate a Scandinavian pronunciation to English ‘phonetics’ though:)
