I say [name]Ann[/name]-ders. I’m from [name]Texas[/name] :slight_smile: I like the name! I think it is a nice choice, even with the possibility of mispronunciation.

We plan to use it as a nn for [name]Evander[/name] and will say it [name]Ann[/name]-ders, rhymes with Danders/Panders. I think in the U.S and [name]Canada[/name] it will most intuitively be said [name]Ann[/name]-ders, I can’t speak for other countries/accents though.

I say [name]ANN[/name]-ders, and I’m from eastern [name]Ontario[/name]. I’ve only known one guy named [name]Anders[/name], and that’s the way he pronounces it (he’s also from eastern [name]Ontario[/name].)

I’d say [name]ANN[/name]-ders and I live in NC. [name]Don[/name]'t believe I’d ever met anyone by that name though. I like it, it’s different without being strange. I would just assume it’s related to [name]Andrew[/name] in some way which would lead me to that pronunciation (not sure if that’s true or not?).

If it helps, [name]Anderson[/name] means son of [name]Anders[/name]. I have only ever heard [name]Anderson[/name] pronounced [name]Ann[/name]-derson.

I say it “On-ders”, but only because I have a classmate named [name]Anders[/name] and that’s how he pronounces it :slight_smile:

[name]Anders[/name] is my favourite form of [name]Andrew[/name]. I really like it. It was on my boy name list for a bit and while we’ve decided it won’t work for us, I’d love to see someone use it.

My one caveat is that [name]Anders[/name] Behring Breivik is the name of the neo nazi who masacred 70 some people in Norway last summer. I think [name]Anders[/name] is a common enough name in Scandanavian countries that it won’t be immediately make people think of him, but I just thought I’d mention it.

I really love [name]Anders[/name]. I am from the midwest and I know someone who goes by the pronunciation I use, [name]ANN[/name]-DERS. I have distant cousins in [name]Sweden[/name], though, and I know that my relative [name]Anders[/name] there goes by something more like UN-DERS. So, I think no matter how you pronounce the name, it probably won’t sound like the original Scandinavian version. In the U.S. I think you’ll hear [name]ANN[/name]-DERS most.

I live around a large contingent of Scandinavian-Americans, [name]Anders[/name] was very common. It was always pronounced (AHN-ders) sometimes even (AN-ders). I love this name!

I live in MN and I would say ann-ders, just like I’d say ann-der-son. [name]Don[/name]'t know anyone with the name though.

I voted ON-ders, but I want to write it as AHN-dersh (the ‘s’ has more of a ‘sh’ sound when I say it). I’m in Australia, and while I do believe most here would say [name]ANN[/name]-ders, my own pronunciation of the name I picked up after some time spent in Norway (I stayed with people with a son names [name]Anders[/name], so I heard it a lot) so I’m biased to the Australian regional pronunciation I suppose.

I love the name!
