Andie for a girl?

I usually go for classics names—some of my faves are [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], etc. HOWEVER, we have found a name we think is so cute and fun to say, but I am looking for honest opinions about it lol… [name_f]Andie[/name_f] for a girl? Yay or nay? Too trendy?

I know a young adult in her mid-20’s with the name (different spelling), and I think it’s cute! My friend Andrea in her late 20’s has has been call [name_f]Andy[/name_f] as a nickname a lot, which didn’t seem weird at all. I think it’s usable for a girl in the same way [name_f]Drew[/name_f] is

I don’t think [name_f]Andie[/name_f] goes badly with your other girl names. [name_f]Andie[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f] might actually be a cute pair.

It’s a little bit trendy, [name_f]Andie[/name_f] was only in the top 1000 for the first time last year and might rise a lot in the coming years. I know an [name_f]Andie[/name_f] in her 20s but I’m not sure if it counts because that’s her nickname (full name Alexandria). If you want something less trendy maybe you could use it as a nickname for another name?

I think [name_f]Andie[/name_f] for a girl is totally usable, and I actually like it a lot! Not too trendy in my opinion, since it’s not a made up spelling or anything, just a nickname-y name.

^^This is so true!!

[name_f]My[/name_f] friend has a daughter [name_f]Andie[/name_f] (after a grandfather, Andrew). It’s a cheerful and capable name - and not trendy to me. If you’re unsure, you could make it a nickname to [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]. I’m not personally a fan of [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] but they could all work if [name_f]Andrea[/name_f] feels a bit [name_f]Gen[/name_f] X.

[name_f]Andie[/name_f] is sweet, fun and gently strong for a girl. I like it! I think it fits in with [name_m]Jamie[/name_m], [name_m]Charlie[/name_m], [name_f]Lou[/name_f], [name_m]Alex[/name_m], [name_m]Jay[/name_m], [name_m]Jude[/name_m], [name_m]Cary[/name_m], [name_f]Caro[/name_f], [name_f]Sasha[/name_f], [name_f]Wynn[/name_f] etc as nicknames that feel well established for any gender, rather than feeling trendy

It reminds me of “how to lose a guy in 10 days”, which isn’t a bad thing  I also had a friend who went by that in school. Her full name was [name_f]Andrea[/name_f].

I find [name_f]Andie[/name_f] quite a fun and cheerful name for a girl. It makes me think of [name_f]Andie[/name_f] McDowell - I just looked her up and found out that her full name is [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] McDowell, which I think is kind of great with the nn [name_f]Andie[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Andie[/name_f] is really fun with a laid back cowgirl vibe which I like :horse::cactus:
I do not find her trendy maybe because she feels more distinctive from other unisex options. I would put her in the same bracket of [name_m]Drew[/name_m] and [name_f]Reese[/name_f]. More laid back friendly unisex choices. I think [name_f]Andie[/name_f] & [name_f]Claire[/name_f] would be very fun pairing.

Andie is gorgeous for a girl name! I don’t think it’s too trendy at all. In fact, my bestfriend’s name is Andie, her full name is Andriana. I also knew an Ann Delia who went by Andie, without the E.

It can be a stand-alone name or if you want something longer:

Andreine
Candace (not a huge fan, but I’ve known a Candance who goes by Andie)
Amanda
Leandra
Holland
Xandra

[name_f]Andie[/name_f] for a girl is so so precious :two_hearts:

The sound is feminine and cute, but the meaning is VERY strong. The perfect balance :yin_yang:

I love love love [name_f]Andie[/name_f] for a girl! It feels so sweet and playful.

I do prefer [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], etc. but I don’t hate [name_f]Andie[/name_f]! I usually prefer it as a nn for something like [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] etc. personally, though. It has a sweet sound and there are several stories I’ve come across with Andies in them that have been really lovely.

I don’t think trendy, really; if anything it feels a little dated? [name_m]Just[/name_m] because I automatically think of [name_f]Andrea[/name_f] and most of the Andies I’ve come across are grown women, but I do know of a toddler named [name_f]Andie[/name_f], so I feel like it’s not really tied to any generation. Fairly classic because it stems from pretty classic names (Andrea, [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f], etc.).

Good luck!
