Hey Berries–
I just came across the name [name_f]Andra[/name_f] today and have read that it can be pronounced AHN-druh or [name_f]ANN[/name_f]-druh. I prefer the [name_f]ANN[/name_f]-druh pronunciation, but I’m curious what the most popular pronunciation is. So which way would you pronounce it? Also, general thoughts on the name?
I’d say it “[name_f]ANN[/name_f]-druh”. Honestly, I’ve never been a huge fan of names like [name_f]Andra[/name_f], [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], [name_f]Andriana[/name_f], etc. They are very harsh-sounding and there’s always that pronunciation thing…“AWN” vs. “[name_f]ANN[/name_f]”.
I’ve never heard of the name. I would automatically pronounce it ann-druh.
@namergirl13: To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of those kind of names either. I can’t think of another one I like, actually, but I do kind of like [name_f]Andra[/name_f]. Maybe it’s because it reminds me of [name_u]Adria[/name_u], which I also like because it’s a family name. haha
I always read it as [name_f]Ann[/name_f]-druh because the only one I know of is the singer [name_f]Andra[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u], and in her case it’s short for [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]. I think it’s a decent name, but I think I like it better as a nickname vs. a standalone name.
