[name_f]My[/name_f] husband likes [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] for a girl and I love the idea of the nickname [name_u]Andy[/name_u] or [name_u]Drew[/name_u]? I just want a few outside opinions.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] doesn’t work for a girl at all. The name is all boy. [name_u]Andy[/name_u] and [name_u]Drew[/name_u] are cute nicknames, but you don’t need to use [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] to get to them.
Yeah, to me [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is all boy. [name_u]Andy[/name_u] and [name_u]Drew[/name_u] sound masculine to me too. I know girls named [name_f]Andi[/name_f], but I have never met any girls named [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] comes from andros, the Greek word for “man.” So that seems awkward. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]?
I don’t like [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] on a girl at all. Would he go for [name_u]Andrea[/name_u]?
All the girl names we like are “boyish” but would be evened out with a feminine middle name i.e [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] we also like [name_u]Billie[/name_u], [name_u]Brett[/name_u],and [name_u]Blake[/name_u] for girls
Doesn’t work for me either. There are some lovely feminizations of [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. I also think that while this gives you two great nicknames, realistically you’ll only use one or the other so it might be good to decide which you like better [name_f]Andi[/name_f] or [name_u]Drew[/name_u]? And go from there.
I can’t think of a more masculine name than [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. It would be setting your child up for a lifetime of confusion and explanations. Definitely no.
I’m a name-lover that loves many different boy names on girls, but this isn’t one of them.
I do like [name_u]Drew[/name_u] for a girl, just [name_u]Drew[/name_u] as the full first name, with a more feminine middle name to balance it out,
[name_u]Andy[/name_u] or [name_f]Andie[/name_f] could also work as a stand alone name with a longer and more feminine middle.
I prefer [name_u]Drew[/name_u] over [name_u]Andy[/name_u].
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a male name. Save it for a boy and give your daughter a girl’s name.
Boy boy boy!!! I’ve got two MALE relatives called this. NO!
There are gorgeous girls names out there [name_u]Andrea[/name_u] nn [name_u]Andy[/name_u]?
I think it could work- worst comes to worst and she really dislikes being named [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], she has a multitude of nicknames to choose from: [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_u]Andy[/name_u], [name_u]Drew[/name_u], etc. Especially if you are pairing it with a really feminine middle name, then you could call her that. I think it is a very bold choice, one that could pay off extremely well. Kids these days don’t really tease each other about their names: there is so much variety these days, everyone tends to be pretty accepting. I think it sounds very strong and I think it would fit a female perfectly.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] my two cents… I love boys names for girls that aren’t really used for girls. I know a girl named [name_m]Dominic[/name_m], and a boy named [name_m]Dominic[/name_m], and the girl carries it off better than the boy.
Does NOT work. At all. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t do this to her.
No, it doesn’t work. [name_f]Nor[/name_f] does [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
No. [name_u]Andrea[/name_u] nicknamed [name_f]Andi[/name_f] or [name_u]Andy[/name_u].
Two of my classmates are Andrea. One goes by Drew, and the other goes by Annie, and both carry their names very well. If it’s really Drew that you like, there are more feminine names that can get there.
I don’t see anything wrong with it. I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a beautiful name for a girl. After all, [name_u]Andy[/name_u] and [name_u]Drew[/name_u] are both unisex names, so why can’t [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] be too?
[name_u]Drew[/name_u] or [name_f]Andie[/name_f] but not [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
Please, just no.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]: I genuinely wouldn’t be able to tell if it was a boy with a girl’s middle name or a girl with a boy’s first name. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is 100% male, [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is 100% female, so the combo is just baffling. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] could not be any more masculine, there is no room for ambiguity with just [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].
To compare, [name_u]Billie[/name_u] is fairly masculine, but not 100% male, so I’d know [name_u]Billie[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] was a girl.
There is no middle name that is feminine enough to push [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] Something as a whole over 50% girl. I guess if anything I’d assume boy with girl’s middle name, because people tend to put the odd choices in the middle out of kindness to the child.
