Andy?

So, for a boys name we would like to use family names somehow, which are [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_m]Rob[/name_m]/robert.
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband suggested [name_u]Andy[/name_u] [name_m]Robert[/name_m].
But I’m not sure how I feel about [name_u]Andy[/name_u].
I’m happy to have 2 middle names ______ [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m].
But my husbands refusing ANY first names I suggest.
Hes dead set on [name_u]Andy[/name_u]. And refuses [name_u]Drew[/name_u], which I think is a better option.
[name_f]My[/name_f] whole life I’ve wanted an [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m].
Any idea suggestions or opinions on [name_u]Andy[/name_u] in this day and age lol

I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is pretty timeless, if only SLIGHTLY dated. [name_u]Andy[/name_u] does feel a bit dated, but because its full form is timeless I could pretty easily imagine it on a modern boy.

There’s also the option of naming him [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] ___ or [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] ___ [name_m]Robert[/name_m] (I personally believe children should have at least one name that is their own and not an honour name). You would call him [name_u]Drew[/name_u], and your husband [name_u]Andy[/name_u].

That said, if you don’t like [name_u]Andy[/name_u]/Andrew, you shouldn’t use it just because your husband loves it. Your child’s name is a BIG deal. It’s what you will call one of the most important people in your life, if not the most important, for the rest of their life.

If you feel this way, sit down with your husband and have a talk. Tell him that you understand that he really loves [name_u]Andy[/name_u], but just like how you’ve let go of [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] he needs to let go of [name_u]Andy[/name_u] as a first name so you can find a name you BOTH like. Raising children is a collaborative effort and so should be naming!

Good luck!

I think this sums it up perfectly.

Personally, however, I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a lovely name. I married an [name_u]Andy[/name_u], though… so the bias is strong

Andy is okay but if you don’t love it, I’d look for something else

Atticus [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Andy[/name_u]’
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Andy[/name_u]’
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

Andy seems fine to me but seriously get that guy to work with you a little more!
I don’t think he should be shooting down every name you put out there and he should be able to put forward a few more options too. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you come back to [name_u]Andy[/name_u] in the end. (I also tend to think whoever is carrying the baby should have the final say in these things not the other way around! lol)

What about [name_u]Drew[/name_u]? [name_u]Drew[/name_u] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is lovely and it’s more modern.
