What are your thoughts on [name_m]Angel[/name_m] for a girl?

[name_f][/name_f]

What image do you get from these names? What would a girl with these names be and look like?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Angel[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Angela[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Angelia[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Angeline[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Angelina[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Angelique[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Angelica[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

I think the ones I would consider are: [name_m]Angel[/name_m], [name_f]Angeline[/name_f], [name_f]Angelique[/name_f]. [name_f]Angela[/name_f] still feels a bit dated and I find [name_f]Angelia[/name_f] hard to say. [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] and [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] have too many syllables for my liking and strong celebrity associations, which aren’t negative but very much there and I prefer names that don’t make people automatically think of just one person. Thoughts?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Angel[/name_m] or
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Angeline[/name_f] “Angel” or
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Angelique[/name_f] “Angel”?

[name_f][/name_f]

Thanks!

[name_m]Angel[/name_m] → feels modern and cool. I imagine an independent, confident teenager living in [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] City.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angela[/name_f] → dated but still classic. I imagine a teen in the 70s, in a turtleneck and skirt, holding her school books. I also think of [name_f]Angela[/name_f] from The Office

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelia[/name_f] → honestly I read this as Anglia like the geographic region [name_m]East[/name_m] Anglia. I find it a little hard to pronounce, and I don’t have a specific vision for it. It also makes me think of cats for some reason?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angeline[/name_f] → sweet, soft, and elegant. One of my favorites of these names.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelina[/name_f] → I think of [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f]Ballerina[/name_f]. Unfortunately it’s not my favorite because I knew multiple Angelinas growing up who all happened to be spoiled and bratty and it’s tainted the name for me :face_with_diagonal_mouth:[name_f][/name_f] I didn’t actually think of [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] until I read your paragraph (I assume that’s who you mean) but I agree she’s a prominent association.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelique[/name_f] → cool, elegant, [name_m]French[/name_m], and sort of movie-starrish. Another one of my favorites from this list.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelica[/name_f] → reminds me of the herb, [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m], and a former classmate who was very sweet and quiet. I’m actually not sure who the celebrity association for [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] would be, unless you mean the [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] character? This is probably my favorite from the list.

[name_f][/name_f]

Overall, [name_f]Angelica[/name_f], [name_f]Angeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Angelique[/name_f] are my favorites. I also think [name_m]Angie[/name_m] is such a cute and fun nickname, if a little retro or dated. For some other [name_m]Angel[/name_m] names than don’t actually start with [name_m]Angel[/name_m], I think the Portuguese Elisangela and [name_f]Rosangela[/name_f] are also very pretty, and I like [name_f]Evangelina[/name_f] as well.

[name_f][/name_f]

For your final question, I think [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] ‘Angel’ would get my vote, but it’s close with [name_f]Angelique[/name_f]. I don’t dislike [name_m]Angel[/name_m] on its own, but I prefer a longer name.

I know of an [name_m]Angel[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- she’s blonde haired, very into dance + seemed very hard working. The [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] I know of goes by Gelly (hard G), and is a fairly confident and creative.

[name_f][/name_f]

I think I like the spikiness of [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] and the smooth feel of [name_f]Angeline[/name_f]. [name_f]Angela[/name_f] feels solid and grounded, and I don’t mind it.

[name_f][/name_f]

I find [name_m]Angel[/name_m] a bit cutesy, [name_f]Angelia[/name_f] a bit medical, [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] quite ballerina (but I don’t dislike it) and the -ique sound just isn’t my favourite.

[name_m]Angel[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- definitely a cool girl name. Someone a bit mysterious, but sweet.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angela[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- kinda dated, but I know an incredibly sprightly elderly [name_f]Angela[/name_f] who acts and dances and dyes her hair purple, so I can picture someone feisty and artsy!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- don’t love this one, it sounds more like a medicine or health condition :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angeline[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- sleek and elegant. Cute for a little girl but stylish on an adult. I think this is my favourite. It has a magical ring to it.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- unfortunately, my mind will always immediately supply ‘ballerina’ after this one! A bit too cutesy, and of course there’s [name_f]Jolie[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelique[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- again, stylish, but I’d be surprised to hear it on someone who wasn’t [name_m]French[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelica[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- very much [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] to me, with a side order of Rugrats. Not necessarily bad associations but they’re strong! Particularly Angelicaaaaa from [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m]. I do love that it’s a herb though!

[name_f][/name_f]

Tl;dr I like [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] ‘Angel’ best! :wing:

I like [name_m]Angel[/name_m]! I think because it is a term of endearment, [name_m]Angel[/name_m] alone isn’t my preference. It’s a bit like [name_f]Honey[/name_f], a name I also like but would probably use as a nickname for something longer.

[name_f][/name_f]

In terms of longer choices, your top two are also my favourite. I agree that [name_f]Angela[/name_f] feels dated and [name_f]Angelia[/name_f] might be tougher to say. Of the two you highlighted [name_f][/name_f]-

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelique[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite. I love that q, how sleek and mysterious it is. I picture an [name_f]Angelique[/name_f] as stylish, bold, and a bit bookish. I imagine a girl with lighter hair and a lot of confidence.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angeline[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Also really nice. I picture an [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] as more shy and sweet. Maybe a more artistic child. I imagine her having dark hair and eyes and being a kind and giving friend. The [name_m]Angel[/name_m] element comes through a bit more in [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] to me.

I really want[name_f][/name_f] to love this family of names, but something always seems to hold me back? [name_f][/name_f] I think I like [name_f]Angelique[/name_f] best from these options, or [name_f]Angeline[/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] reminds me too much of Rugrats and [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] too much of the Jolie-Pitts. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Angela[/name_f] feels dated to me and [name_m]Angel[/name_m] too wordy. [name_f][/name_f] If I could disassociate [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] from the Rugrats, I think I would really love her! [name_f][/name_f] I like the idea of angels and heaven & she has some sweet nns (Annie, etc.; [name_m]Angie[/name_m] I’m on the fence for), but I haven’t fully been able to commit to any. [name_f][/name_f] Years ago I met a little girl named [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] though and I thought that was the most lovely name, and I’ve known a few Angeliques, so those two I do find myself liking the most. [name_f][/name_f] There’s also [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] which I’m a mega fan of, though it’s not technically another [name_m]Angel[/name_m] name.

[name_f][/name_f]

Good luck!

I like [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] best out the three you’re leaning towards. Such a beautiful name!

[name_m]Angel[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I picture an older millenial with tattoos and dark black hair. Probably a little rough around the edges but actually really nice underneath it.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angela[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Literally all I can picture is the character from the Office. Doesn’t help that I worked in an office with an [name_f]Angela[/name_f] who looked very similar to that character.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- You’re right, this one is a little hard to say for me as well! I picture a very girly little girl who’s parents dress her in lots and lots of bows. Probably a dancer.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angeline[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I picture a person who speaks french, very worldly. She’d been very fashionable but enjoy an almost business formal style.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- A preppy, pretty girl. Maybe a cheerleader. Lots of energy and probably likes very bright colors.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelique[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- For some reason I feel like this person likes to have long acryllic nails. That’s weirdly specific but that’s the image I’m getting!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Angelica[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I picture a really bright, happy young person. I knew an [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] who went by “Jelly.” She was a great person which makes this name feel special.

[name_f][/name_f]

If I were to pick from your favorites I would go with [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] nn [name_m]Angel[/name_m]!
