Angel as a name

What are your thoughts on [name_u]Angel[/name_u]? Does it sound so pretentious?

I think [name_u]Angel[/name_u] is okay but I prefer [name_u]Angel[/name_u] variants like [name_f]Angeline[/name_f], [name_f]Angela[/name_f], [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] & [name_f]Angelique[/name_f] rather than [name_u]Angel[/name_u].

I love it  I considered it as a middle name a few years back. [name_u]Angel[/name_u] names like [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] are also nice.

I might assume you were a [name_f]Buffy[/name_f] The Vampire Slayer fan. I’m torn between the association of a cherub and a sexy vampire

I think it’s a good/bad name

I used to have a friend called [name_u]Angel[/name_u] (girl). It’s okay, nothing wrong with it but it lacks spark imo. I would prefer [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] or [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] with nn [name_u]Angel[/name_u].

Despite knowing a bunch of [name_u]Angel[/name_u]’s throughout my life (mostly guys), I’ve always thought it was pretty weird as a name. I don’t think it sounds pretentious.

My boss at my last job was named [name_u]Angel[/name_u] and she carried it very well. It didn’t seem pretentious at all.

I’ve only known I think one, a guy and of course there’s the tv vampire.
I actually don’t have strong feelings about to one way or another.

I can’t help but see it as a boy name, for reasons already listed. I do really like it tho!

It’s not my favorite but I can picture it much more on a girl. I wouldn’t want my child to be an angel anyways. Sounds boring :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve only heard it on Spanish-speaking guys, so that’s what I think of the name as (Ahn-hel). I like it less in [name_f]English[/name_f] (Ain-gel) because it feels more descriptive or an endearment than a name.

I prefer similar names like [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] and [name_f]Angeline[/name_f]. [name_u]Angel[/name_u] itself just seems a bit too literal to me. That said, here in the UK there is a TV personality named [name_u]Angel[/name_u] Adorée and I always thought the name suited her well.

My sister’s name is [name_u]Angel[/name_u] and she loves it. Throughout school, she always signed her name with a halo around the ‘a’. She’s also very sweet, so it fit her well.

My mom wanted to name her [name_u]Angel[/name_u] [name_u]Maria[/name_u], but my dad was worried about naming her [name_u]Angel[/name_u], so they moved the ‘a’ and named her [name_f]Angela[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]. She actually hates the name [name_f]Angela[/name_f] and goes strictly by [name_u]Angel[/name_u]. But that would be an option for you, name her an [name_u]Angel[/name_u] based name like [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] or [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] and nickname her [name_u]Angel[/name_u].
