I am due in [name]March[/name] with a baby girl and my husband and I definitely want to name our daughter either [name]Angelina[/name] or [name]Angelica[/name]. We both like both names so it is really hard to decide. Some days I will like [name]Angelina[/name] better and some days I will like [name]Angelica[/name] so I am having a really tough time. I’d love it if you guys could tell me which you prefer and why so that maybe I could get a little more clarity to finally be able to make a decision. Thanks so much!
Personally, I prefer [name]Angelica[/name]. It has more of a kick to it while still being elegant and classy. Also, [name]Angelina[/name] has a link to [name]Angelina[/name] [name]Jolie[/name] nowadays, so I presume it’s more popular than [name]Angelica[/name]!
i like [name]Angelina[/name] more. i don’t know how to explain why except that i like the ‘lina’ sound more than the ‘lica’ sound, or maybe i just don’t like the word angelic. i don’t know, to me [name]Angelina[/name] just sounds nicer.
I also prefer [name]Angelina[/name]. It makes me think of the [name]Angelina[/name] Ballerina books which I like. [name]Angelica[/name] makes me think of the bratty character from the Rugrats tv show. I also dislike the obvious connection to the word angelic. It seems bound for trouble to use it on a child, but that’s just me.
Having never thought about it until now, my instinct is to go with [name]Angelica[/name]. I find it spunkier than [name]Angelina[/name]. [name]Angelica[/name] makes me think glamour and strength - [name]Anjelica[/name] [name]Huston[/name] comes to mind.
I much prefer [name]Angelica[/name] to [name]Angelina[/name] because I like the look and sound of the name better. [name]Both[/name] names have good and bad associations so they’re pretty even in that regard.
Depends on your pronunication, I like [name]Angelina[/name] as “an huh leena” and “an juh leena” but I only like [name]Angelica[/name] as “An hell ica” because the three I know use this pronunciation and “an jell ica” just seems off for some reason. I like [name]Angelica[/name] best.
Personally I prefer the sound of [name]Angelina[/name], I don’t like the association of [name]Angelina[/name] [name]Jolie[/name], but I still that it is beautiful. When I hear [name]Angelica[/name] all I can picture is the bratty girl from the Rugrats Its a perfectly good name but I just have bad associations.
I love [name]Angelica[/name]. I know a girl with this name and she is pretty, refined and intelligent. I think the Rugrats allusion is just a fun and silly thing that will be lost on the next generation anyway. [name]Angelica[/name]'s got a real kick, as someone said above, that [name]Angelina[/name] just lacks for me.
I like both as well but I’d give a slight edge to [name]Angelina[/name] just because i think it is a little more classic and elegant. Either choice is lovely, however.
Despite the fact that [name]Angelina[/name] is associated with [name]Angelina[/name] [name]Jolie[/name] and [name]Angelica[/name] is associated with the bossy, spoiled girl on Rugrats they are both adorable names. I have to say that I like [name]Angelina[/name] better. I think there’s something more sophisticated and feminine about [name]Angelina[/name] than [name]Angelica[/name]. I don’t think you could go wrong with either name though.
I personally like [name]Angelina[/name]. [name]Angelica[/name] sounds harsher. I could see [name]Angelica[/name] being called Jelly Belly with the emphasis more on the ‘Gel’ sound, where as the emphasis of [name]Angelina[/name] is more on the ‘An’ part. [name]Angelica[/name] may also get inapropriate refrences to ‘Licking’ from boys when she gets older.
I love [name]Angelina[/name]! I think it’s so refined and pretty, but it has real spunk. I went to school with an adorable [name]Angelica[/name] (I only say adorable because she was in kindergarten when I was a sophomore in high school–it was a really, really small school, lol!), but [name]Angelina[/name] just has more positive imagery for me. I love that [name]Angelina[/name] could be [name]Annie[/name], [name]Angie[/name], [name]Elina[/name], [name]Lina[/name]/[name]Lena[/name], [name]Angel[/name], Angelie, or just [name]Angelina[/name]. I think there are more options than just [name]Angelica[/name]. I wasn’t allowed to watch The Rugrats when I was little (lol!), but what I’ve seen of the show and how bratty that [name]Angelica[/name] was, it still puts me off.
[name]Do[/name] you have a MN picked out? Does it sound better with one of the names?
I love the meaning behind [name]Angelina[/name], “little angel.” It’s also a gorgeous name!
To me [name]Angelica[/name] sounds harsh and isn’t that pretty.
I say [name]Angelina[/name]!
[name]Angelina[/name] is my middle name, and I like it so much. It is soft but gorgeous. But sometimes I prefer [name]Angelica[/name] because it sounds more delicate. So my sugesstion is, match it with her middle name.
