If the name [name_f]Ann[/name_f]/[name_f]Anne[/name_f] is a middle name, I think [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is better. I like [name_f]Anne[/name_f] as a first name.
I just think that for a middle name, [name_f]Ann[/name_f] looks better than [name_f]Anne[/name_f].
Kind of like [name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f]. I like [name_f]May[/name_f] as a first name and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as a middle name.
I find [name_f]Anne[/name_f]/[name_f]Ann[/name_f] a bit overly simple. I prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. But of the two, I agree; [name_f]Ann[/name_f] looks better!
I much prefer [name_f]Ann[/name_f], because anytime I see [name_f]Anne[/name_f] I just want to say [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f], but I also am not a fan of silent e’s at the end of words and would much prefer to pronounce them all as a’s.
I think I spent too much of my childhood with [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables to ever leave the “e” off of [name_f]Anne[/name_f]!
Interesting idea about having different preferred spelling depending on the first or the middle spot, though in my case I like [name_f]Anne[/name_f] a bit better either way.
I feel the same way as you. [name_f]Anne[/name_f] is a first name and [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is a middle. To me, [name_f]Ann[/name_f] doesn’t feel… quite all there for a first name, but for a middle (or the second half of a double barrel name) I like it better because of that.
With that said, I know two girls (both named [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]) who have that middle name. One is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] and the other is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], but I think that [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is more aesthetically pleasing than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f].
