See Frozen. It’ll definitely be okay! Nowadays, I ask - “oh, is that pronounced ah-na or an-na?”
I feel like if you spell it with one N it might be pronounced Ah-Na more often. [name_f]Ana[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I think a lot of people would pronounce [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as an-uh. But with the one N you might get more ah-na pronunciations!
I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] will have about a 50/50 chance of being pronounced ah-na or anne-uh, so you’ll probably have to correct people about 50% of the time, but it could be worse. A few years ago I definitely would’ve automatically assumed it was anne-uh, but since Frozen came out I typically would ask which pronunciation they use if I just see their name written.
I knew a girl named [name_f]Anna[/name_f] pronounced ANN-uh and she never had pronunciation issues with her name until Frozen came out. Now when people read her name they ask if she pronounces it ANN-uh or AHN-uh. I think most by now are familiar with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] from Frozen, so I’m sure it would be fine. Some will say ANN-uh but as someone said earlier, once corrected most people will remember and it’s not a big deal. If it was me I would go with [name_f]Ana[/name_f] since I think it would have a better chance of being pronounced correctly.
I think spelling the name [name_f]Ana[/name_f] would probably make it a lot easier because I would never assume [name_f]Anna[/name_f] was pronounced Ah-na, even though I like that pronunciation MUCH better than an-uh.
[name_f]My[/name_f] cousin is an Ah-Nah spelled [name_f]Anna[/name_f] born & raised in the US so I asked her. She said there are obviously still times when she has to correct someone but that it happens a a lot less now than it did when she was a kid and it
never bothered her to begin with.
