Anna vs Alice?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
What sort of vibes/imagery do you get from [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f], and which do you prefer and why?
They both feel classic and vintage to me, but I want to know what you all think in terms of imagery and impressions.
Thank you!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is very silly and lovable to me, probably because I have a friend like this who has the name [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. But nonetheless it is a gorgeously elegant name.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is very curious and worldly, like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland. It feels very well-off as a name, the kind that works for any age. They both give me this imagery:

It comes to whether or not you would like name that is common through centuries, that might be cute, but it’s considered plain and simple, like [name_f]Anna[/name_f], or you want storybook name would befit fairy, but might became overused and tacky in future, like [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] pick is [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but neither is in my top list.

Both of these have a strong but sweet feel, classic but still fresh. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels slightly gentler, a little more frilly, a little more classic and literary. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] has a touch more ruggedness and kick, classic but not plain.

As a first, I think I prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f], but I like the sweet [name_f]Alice[/name_f] too

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] would get my vote, it’s pretty and classic and I like the nn [name_f]Lissy[/name_f].

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] feels quite serious to me, I much prefer [name_f]Annie[/name_f]

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is my favourite :dove:

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is beautiful, universal, timeless and has a sweet warm vibe. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is just effortless simple and so classic I love how she just feels so graceful and romantic. I would pair [name_f]Anna[/name_f] with a fun nature name like [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]. I also like the idea of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Jubilee[/name_u]!

I love both

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is more beautiful and old fashioned
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is simple and classic to me .

I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] personally

I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f], because [name_f]Anna[/name_f] just feels so overdone without being as pretty.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is the pale sun on spring mornings, Victorian window seats, light dappling on a river, hairbands and lace cuffs, quiet reading, picnics in the park with an old-fashioned hamper, white dresses, periwinkle blue sky, fragrant tea, frilled ankle socks and straw hats.

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] gives me half-up hair with a velvet ribbon, demure collars, piano music, beautiful neat handwriting, library books, tucking hair behind ears, dolls’ houses, ballet, navy blue and shell pink and white.

However, I also have a friend named [name_f]Anna[/name_f] who is zany and colourful, a bit of a hippy, so I also associate [name_f]Anna[/name_f] with rainbow hair and dungarees, sunflowers, trips to the zoo, rowdy folk songs, camping, pick and mix sweets, colourful tattoos.

I love them both

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is sweet and calm. I love the nickname [name_f]Annie[/name_f]!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] has a little more spark!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] feels much more commonplace, but not in a bad way. To me it feels softer and perhaps slightly more versatile than [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] also strikes me as more grounded and down-to-earth than [name_f]Alice[/name_f] — the latter feels frillier and more opulent in its imagery, with a sparky, slightly magical edge, perhaps thanks to [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland.

Personally I prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f]! It’s a name I’ve been falling in and out of love with since I was a little kid. Honestly I’ve never cared much for [name_f]Alice[/name_f], I’m not entirely sure why. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is just so simple, classic, and beautiful to me while [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is just… meh. Both are lovely names though

I’m having a hard time articulating the imagery I get for either of them but for colors [name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels very ice blue and light grey and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is more of a warm lavender/mauve. Both are nice but I think I’m leaning more towards [name_f]Anna[/name_f], especially if [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is used as a nn.

I like Anna a lot more! I picture the colours green and blue, bright skies over green fields, daisies and windmills, sunny days and woven baskets, friendship bracelets and children’s laughter :blossom:

While Alice is pretty, it has a stuffier image to me: beige, dust rose and brown, books and homework, formal dresses and old wood furniture.

Definitely prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] I see as a gorgeous girl with long, glossy hair and a sense of confidence, but also loves to read and think.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] I see as an old Victorian lady writing with a quill. Emphasis on old

I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I love it’s meaning and the sound of it.

I love them both! The vibe i get is that [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a little more sweet and demure, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] more spirited yet dignified. Personally I’d prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f] if i didn’t already know several.
