Due in 4 weeks and still trying to finalize a girl’s name. We are down to 4 names - [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], or [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. Our surname is [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and we like the middle names [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]. Would love opinions! One note on [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], I love it, but worry about pronunciation issues. I love [name_f]Emme[/name_f] as a nickname but worry people will be confused on how to pronounce it her whole life.
All so pretty! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think you’d use nicknames for any of them or all formal names? I love the nickname [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for the name [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], but I’m not crazy about just [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] (personal preference). It is pretty though. I have an [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and had considered [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] for her. While I like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], I’m glad I didn’t use it, because I feel like it’s starting to blend into all the “bell” names in my area. And I don’t think it fits everyone. I really like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and the nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f] (or [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]) too. I think their could be pronunciation issues with it (people mistaking it for [name_f]Emily[/name_f] as well). But I’ve been shocked at the pronunciation one of my daughter’s simple names. I guess the only one I’m not crazy about is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. But again, that’s just my personal preference. And I don’t love the nicknames for it. It is a classic though. You can’t go wrong.
In order of preference (with just the nn you listed), I would say
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
If you used [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] consistently as nicknames, my order would change to:
They’re all lovely options, but I think [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] stands out (in a good way.) I wouldn’t be too worried about pronunciation, especially if you’d use the nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] in particular is a gorgeous combo.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is a beautiful name. She might have some pronunciation issues, but I really think most people who see it in print will be able to say it. It isn’t like [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f] or [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] which aren’t pronounced at all how they’re written. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] will be pronounced either [name_f]Em[/name_f]-uh-line or [name_f]Em[/name_f]-uh-leen for the most part and it’s an easy correction.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] is gorgeous!
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] a lot of A’s
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] this one is nice
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] I just don’t like much. Sorry. Other than [name_m]Linus[/name_m], I don’t care for -line names.
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] nice
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] I like this best so far
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] nice, but [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] seems to be getting pretty popular
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] nice too, but I still prefer [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]
They are all personal favorites of mine. [name_f]My[/name_f] top two would be [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] equally. For [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] I personally prefer the [name_f]LINE[/name_f] pronunciation and I prefer the [name_f]EM[/name_f]-ME pronunciation for [name_f]Emme[/name_f]. I personally would not be too concerned about pronunciation issues. Speaking as a person with a very simple name that almost everyone, except one person recently at the coffee shop (thank you), spells wrong. Everyone can make the easiest of names an issue with spelling or pronunciation.
I slightly prefer [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] to [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m].
I slightly prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] to [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m].
I like both [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] equally.
I like both [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] equally.
All are fine first names. However, I find [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] are more memorable and that’s probably because they’re not as common. I think I would vote for [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m].
I love [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I would personally rule out [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]–although a classic, obviously the most common so doesn’t stand out as much.
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is nice. I wouldn’t choose [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] since they are both ‘ann’ names. Actually with either middle name choice, all 3 names would have ‘an’ in them. Not ideal.
I would go for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]. Good luck!
All of your ideas are lovely, but [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is my favorite! [name_m]Both[/name_m] middles are nice too (if I had to pick a combo it would be [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]). Good luck!
Such pretty names. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is my favourite, I love the nickname [name_f]Emmi[/name_f] or [name_f]Emme[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] for it.
I love them all! You can’t go wrong!
If I had to cross one off the list, it would be [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] top three picks would be
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]
Definitely [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]! It’s the only one there I am not bored of seeing everywhere. I think its so cute and has cute nicknames like [name_f]Emme[/name_f].
She could always spell her nn [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] to help people prn that?
If you’re firm on middles, timelessness and the n’s in your four favorite firsts make [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] more suitable than [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f].
Which would then make it a choice between:
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] – a mouthful
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] – a mouthful
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] – perfection
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] – a mouthful
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] ([name_f]Cate[/name_f] is also great.)
[name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes to [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]. (I love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] even more.)
