I came across the name AnnaSophia (an actress) and it struck me as an interesting first name (especially with the second capital in the name). I’m American, but I always thought if I married someone French I’d love to give my daughter the name [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name] (with the french accent, so more like Ahn-so[name]FEE[/name]). The double name idea seems to be so common in French names and I’ve always thought about it as very beautiful, but I haven’t really thought about the double name under any other circumstances, however. I was just curious what other berries would think about this name, love it, hate it, indifferent, other examples you know of, etc. Personally, I think I like it, but it seems like so out of line with ordinary naming practice here in the US that I wanted to get some other opinions. I don’t think I like mushing them into one name with the second capital letter, but I also don’t really like the idea of having it be the first and middle names and her inevitably going by [name]Anna[/name] alone. But something just makes me really like it.
Aww, I really love [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name]! Very French and oh-so-pretty. I’ve just decided to add [name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] to my list, so it reminds me of that. Which makes me smile. I had considered [name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] for my [name]Annie[/name] combo… I think it’s stunning, but in the end, I just liked [name]Anneliese[/name] better.
If you do use [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name]/[name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]/AnnaSophia/etc., I would just do [name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]. If she always goes by [name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name], I don’t think there would be a problem with calling her [name]Anna[/name]. But really, if there is, it wouldn’t take too much trouble to correct them. Good luck!
I love AnnaSophia. I just do. I don’t know, I think it has a beautiful song-like quality. The rhythm of speaking the name AnnaSophia and I don’t even mind the look of it. I’m indifferent when it comes to hyphen/space/no space or hyphen. But I much prefer AnnaSophia to plain [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Sophia[/name].
I love AnnaSophia! My actual name is MiaNicole, and so I really am into the whole double name/no hyphen thing. But other than the fact that two of my classmates in the same class are called [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Sophia[/name], I like it much better. AnnaS could be a short form or nickname, that’s what I do with MiaNicole–MiaN, even if my friend did come up with it. Thank you, [name]Kelsey[/name], for giving me such a great idea. Okay back on topic. AnneSophie is really cute too, but if you want it to be more French I think the hyphen is best. Some other alternatives-
AlexiaSophie-[name]Love[/name]!
SophieMarie-Pretty cool
SaphroneSophie-SS, but still adorable sounding, if a little bit tongue-tying.

[name]How[/name] do initials work for double names like those? What about just naming her [name]Anna[/name] (first name) and [name]Sophia[/name] (middle) and calling her by both?
I’m sorry but AnnaSophia hurts my eyes. But I’m European so maybe in the States it’s fine, here it just looks so wrong. [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name] on the other hand ist totally fine (so is [name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]) and a pretty combo!
I think it’s beautiful! but I would spell it [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name]!
Wanted to add: compound names are pretty common in cultures with catholic history, if you prefer Italian names over French ones I’m sure you can find lots to choose from.
I agree - I love the combo but find the AnnaSophia spelling (one long name with capital) potentially confusing.
I have no strong preference between [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]. I’m OK with Annasophia to some extent - I’m a little used to this with [name]Anna[/name] from [name]Annamaria[/name] and Annabeth, so, while I think the two options above are better, I think this is a third option I personally like the look of better than AnnaSophia.
I prefer separating them as first and middle. I want to use the name [name]Natalie[/name] [name]Esther[/name] as first and middle but calling a daughter by both as a two part name. I’m having trouble getting DH on board with this though. Go with what you like best. God bless.
I love double names!! Personally, I like them best with a space between, like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Beth[/name] or [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. I would definitely give them a separate middle name and their first initial would just be M.
I actually like [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Anne[/name] (or a hyphenated combo), but [name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] as first and middle would be nice. I just don’t like smushing them together, it doesn’t look as beautiful written and would serve the same purpose being [name]Anna[/name] (first) and [name]Sophia[/name] (middle).
I love this name but ONLY with a space ([name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]). I dislike capital letters in the middle of names and hyphens (just my preference).
I agree with previous posters that AnnaSophia is hard to look at. I think [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name] or [name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] is much better. That being said, it does roll off the tongue nicely.
Double names has never been my thing, however I can’t resist how this name sounds. If I were ever to use it, though, I would make it the first and middle and just CALL the kid [name]Anna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]. I don’t know why, but once names are smooshed, it falls into Beckylynn territory. To me, the beauty of the names [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Sophia[/name] get diluted by the smoosh, like your brain is just trying to mentally figure out what the name is and how to spell it, rather than focusing on the name itself. I do like the sound of them together, though.
